^ I feel bad for Mallory, too, and can relate to her in a lot of ways. Not to Claudia, though. Can never understand why anyone would want to not do everything they could to try in school but just accepts that they're "dumb" when they're not.

I like to snark on Claudia the most because I actually do like Mallory and feel kinda bad for the way everyone picks on her so much. I like Mallory as well. She was pretty dorky and awkward, but I was able to relate to her.

So it seems Mal is the most snarkable?

I would definitely agree. I don't see how any of the others are even close to those two. It is funny how snarked on Mallory is when she is actually the one it seems most people relate to!

^ maybe it's a way of dealing with our old unresolved tween insecurities ;D
I used to think Claudia was awesome as a kid. Times change!

To me, Claudia is the most snark-able sitter because of her bad spelling and bad fashion sense.

I will now snark each of them. Beware: it's looooooooong. Kristy: A power hungry control freak. In the beginning at least she had a sense of humor about it. When the books were ghostwritten in the 40s-50s, she lost her ability to not take herself seriously. I did like how she went through a range of emotions in Kristy Worst Idea. Mary Anne: Passive agressive with anger management issues. She was not a good friend; she took everything way too seriously, especially in the ghostwritten books. In the first six books, she cried way too much; almost like crying was her knee-jerk reaction to everything. I did like when she told off her friends when the fight in Mary Anne Saves the Day started and stood up to her father. She had a sweet relationship with her father. Claudia: Where do I start? I never liked her, which is funny because my first BSC book was a Claudia book. (I didn't pick it out. My mom saw it at the supermarket and thought I'd like it. The book was Keep Out, Claudia!). Claudia had reeeeeeaaaaallllly bad fashion sense. She dressed like a kindergartner or a clown, she never matched. If she dressed like that in MY middle school while I was there (in the late nineties-early 2000s) she would have been laughed out of school. She was more airheaded than Stacey by a mile. I hate when people in the books say she was smart, but she thinks she's stupid. Claudia honey, you are stupid because you deliberately spell words wrong even after you're corrected. Where I live in upstate New York, we have a phrase for people like her: people who CHOOSE to be ignorant. She was also really defensive (like Mary Anne), and touchy as well. Claudia claimed this was from no one understanding her and also blamed Janine, when Janine was actually sweet to her. Stacey: Typical pretty girl with a deadly disease. In the early and later books (before she came back to Stoneybrook and after she met Robert), she was a snob. I remember early in the series she would say "Don't forget where I'm from!" It figures that Claudia and Stacey would fight over a boy sometime.
Umm, Dawn: Poor Dawn. She started out laid back and kind of meek. When the ghostwriters got a hold of her, she became a monster. It's not that she couldn't decide where to live or was a millitant hippie that bothered me, the latter because it was actually kind of funny. It was how homegirl went from being the peacemaker (except in Mary Anne Saves The Day when she tells off Mary Anne who deserved it) to acting really catty and immature later (the snooping business).
Mallory: I feel bad for Mallory. And I don't think she's a nerd; just became someone wants to write children's books does not make them a dork. I think it's a double standard. If she had blond hair and blue eyes and wanted to write children's books, I bet no one would be saying she's a dork. She wasn't a dork, just eleven. She was a a spaz later on. Unfortunately, the movie made her a dork forever.
Jessi: I understand she faced racism when she moved to Stoneybrook, but she always seemed to use the race card if something didn't go her way. She even thought Mallory was racist at one point later in the series when she was just shy.
Logan: Way too codependent. From I think Mary Anne and Too Many Boys on, he and Mary Anne had an unhealthy relationship.
I'm sorry this was so long.

I'd say Abby. Even when she was struggling with a fit of allergic reaction such as having a stuffed nose or dealing with an onset of coughing, she still insisted on plowing through and making her unnecessary comments and jokes.

Claudia, Mallory, sometimes Mary Anne with her passive-aggressiveness and shyness, and I agree with Amelia on Abby

I love Mallory. She's my favorite sitter (which is why my username is mallorypike lol ). I do feel bad for her a lot of the time. I can relate to her, too, then as a kid and now. But she's impossible to not snark at!

I love to snark on Stacey because she can be a horrible snob! And a spoiled brat sometimes.

Claudia because of her stupidity, Dawn because of her self righteousness, Jessi for being a Mary Sue, Stacey being Man Hungry, Mallory for being the Meg Griffin of Stoneybrook, Kristy because of her control freak tendencies and Logan and Mary Anne for having a committed relationship at the ripe old age of 13.
