I don't think Claudia had the ponytail in the cover of "Mary Anne Misses Logan" either. I'm pretty sure she was wearing her lovely fedora.

She didn't have one in Welcome back Stacey either. She had some headband thing on.

they're coming back, the sideways ponytails. i was at my little sister's sand volleyball practice and all the girls were wearing side ponytails. i thought of the BSC, and then i wanted to cry.

I just bought a copy of People Stylewatch. It has an article called "It's All About Side Ponytails." It says that "this carefree 80s inspired style suddenly looks very modern and cool." I almost choked laughing.

I would think that a sideways ponytail would be annoying while playing volleyball but I guess anything for fashion ;D

Haha, I just finished a run of Footloose the musical (done VERY period 80's - none of this popular revivalist stuff - the clothes were actually VERY BSC, I was having total Stacey/Claudia moments the whole time) and that dang side ponytail was the bane of my existence. You had to pin the crap out of the back, so that none of it came out during a dance number, and I think that as a result, stock in bobby pins has made a tremendous jump...
Kidding. But it was a serious pain in the heezy.

I never wore a side ponytail in the 80's (my mom did my hair then), but if they're coming back, I should totally wear one to work someday as a joke, and see who says something.

I never wore one either but knew many girls who did. My mom loved doing my hair in pigtails (I had a tremendous collection of hair accessories : and I think the closest I came to wearing one was my hair kinda swept low on one side and tied with a ribbon--I guess it was a very low side ponytail.

^true. Come to think of it last year my hair was longer than it is now, and I would sometimes have it in a ponytail swept over one shoulder like that, but that was probably more out of laziness than style

^haha I do that with a braid sometimes if I'm feeling lazy. Actually a week or so ago, as I was walking into work I just pulled my hair to the side and braided it quickly (literally took like 45 seconds) and when I got in my boss (so sweet) was like "wow! I LOVE your hair! how long does it take to do something like that?!" he is really that clueless and i was like "umm... well I did it as I was walking in so... about a minute?"
