I just read Ann DuCille's essay "Toy Theory: Black Barbie and the Deep Play of Difference" and it made me think quite differently about barbies...I used to love playing with them. My sister and I tried to play BSC with barbies one time, but got bored. They all had their titles (secretary, treasurer, etc.), and we used their little pink phone for job calls. We also used this tiny little magnetic baby to play Lucy Newton

My sister and I used to play BSC with my Barbies too. We used to use a Skipper doll for Mallory and a Courtney doll for Jessi. They were blonde and brunette, but we just ignored that. My sister had a Princess Jasmine doll that I used for Claudia, and we used the matching Aladdin doll for Alan/Pete/some other guy. Whoever we felt like including. Ken was, of course, Logan.
We also had some set that came with cats and dogs, so we had a Tigger and Shannon (the dog) too. We also had some random Kelly dolls and little babies that we used for charges.

^ I had the Kelly and baby charges, too. ;D I wish I would have considered the Aladdian dolls and some of the others for the boys. ;D I did have a Kevin (Skipper size boy) so could have Logan. I also had a black Courtney/Skipper but used her for Keisha since I had the "official" Jessi. ;D

I don't remember any book describing Mal as having any snorting laugh.
I'd say Stacey would quickly and accurately calculate the length, width and chemisty of it in her head and announce it as she walked past it.
Mal might fall over it, but laugh normally, make a funny, wry joke and get back up and write a funny story on it in her notebook.
The rest of them I can see as described...Mary Anne would cry as she walked past it, not wanting to "hurt" it in any way, being the soft-hearted soul she is.
