While most of the BSC client-parents seemed like pretty good parents, there were definitely a couple who were terrible.
My list:
Mr. and Mrs. Addison: dumping their kids off at "activities" so they could have "alone time." Kids feel abandoned, so son turns into a junior criminal.
Mr. and Mrs. Hill: Finding new ways to crush their son's self-esteem every day.
Mrs. Marshall: That whole thing with the jazzercise classes where she doesn't bother to inform the baby-sitter that there will be a extra three kids or whatever and then gets all pissy when the baby-sitter asks for more money.

How about the Lowells (they're the racists right?) and that father that abuses his kids? I would put Rosie Wilder on my list to, just because her parents pushed her to get into show business.

Mrs. Barrett! She seems so neglectful and her kids always seem dirty and gross. I really can't stand her.
ITA on the Hills, they were so evil. Poor Norman.
Also, Mrs. P when she totally neglects Jenny for the cute adorable new baby. She never lets Jenny be a normal kid, it's sad. And Mr. P doesn't seem to have the backbone to stand up to her.

I always really liked Mr. P. I remember in Mary Anne Saves The Day where he wears a rugby shirt and jeans to go a basketball game while Mrs. P wears a cocktail dress.
I forgot about the Lowells and the child-abuser, but I was thinking more along the lines of repeat client parents who aren't a part of what I think of the Lifetime Movie/After School Special BSC books that are intended to call attention to a certain issue, just plain old not-very-good moms and dads.

With the repeat client ones, I definitely agree with Mrs Barrett. Mrs Marshall was pretty about about the jazzercise class, but that was just a one-off - she was fine in all the other books, as far as I could tell. And agreed about the Addisons, Hills and Wilders.

Omg, the Hills. Poor Norman. In the early books, I would say the Arnolds. They can't have seriously thought it was ok to treat Marilyn and Carolyn as if they were the exact same person. Come on.

mrs. arnold's overaccessorizing is pretty creepy too.

^I always thought so.
Re: the Wilders...I never thought much about them as a kid, but yeah they did seem way too involved in telling Rosie what she liked to do instead of asking her.

Well, the Pikes, of course!! Because Mallory isn't actually the other kids MOM, you know. Also, no rules at all? It's a wonder those kids didn't turn out worse.

Hehe, I was trying to refrain from mentioning the Pikes in this thread, I feel like I rant about them too much! But I totally agree, besides the obvious ones, the Pikes are #1 on my Bad Parents list. I hated how they couldn't do ANYTHING without assistance from the BSC or from just Mallory. A trip to the mall? Call the BSC. Somebody spilled a glass of water? Call Mallory. Nicky wants a sandwich? Call Mallory. Going on vacation? Call the BSC. Claire needs her shoe tied? Mal. It's dinnertime? Mal can make her English muffin pizza specialty. And so on, and so on!

haha if I were mal I would have rebelled super quick. Or demanded that when the triplets turn 11, they take over as replacement mom.

Well Bryon did take over the "big brother" role when Mal left for boarding school. Well, the Pikes, of course!! Because Mallory isn't actually the other kids MOM, you know. Also, no rules at all? It's a wonder those kids didn't turn out worse. That's true, I wonder what they'll be like when they get older.

I kinda think that if the kids are happy then the parents are doing something right. With the exception of Mallory and sometimes Nicky, the Pike kids seemed like a pretty content bunch, so I can't hate the parents too much.
Others mentioned, like Cory Addison or Norman Hill, were so sad that I just wanted to punch their parents in the nose.

I think the Pike kids are happy cause they're free to run amok! What kid wouldn't want relaxed parents like that? Mallory's the only one who ever has a right to complain about the Pikes, imo.

I haven't read the jazzercise incident with Mrs. Marshall, but wasn't she the same woman who couldn't figure out why her teeny daughter might be having problems with school when she was dragging around what sounded like a blanket three times her size?
