Everyone has their own opinion of what the members of the BSC members from the books are supposed to look like. Did you think the movie or the tv show did a better job depicting what YOU thought each character should look like? Take the poll above and then add a thread so we all know which actors you thought were best suited for the part.

I'll explain later... I'm too tired now. But it's quite clear my loyalty stands with the TV show in most instances.
**** Updated****
I obviously LOVED the TV show, almost as much as the books... I think I was just a bit too old for the Movie when it came out so i looked at it through a critical, cynical magnifying glass rather than embracing the cheesy, endearing characters for who they are... Don't get me wrong though.... I will never outgrow the BSC. If I was too old for the movie 15 years ago... It's pretty ridiculous that Im still discussing it on this forum. Still... the BSC (books, tv show, movie, games, dolls, EVERYTHING BSC) is TRULY the only thing that makes me happy. I escape with this group of girls and can relate to them at 13 more than my real-life peers. Anyway... Enjoy!
Kristy: TV Kristy hands down... she is great. I really think that's what I thought she should look like when I read the books. The movie Kristy is too cutsey... and her hair is WAY too long. Her voice is too high too... I always imagined Kristy to have a raspy, somewhat low voice, just adding to her assertive nature. Movie Kristy is far too emotional too... I understand the whole dad sitch... but I would expect the real Kristy to react different... maybe a little more defensive and angry and a little less of a push over.
Claudia: This was a tough one bc the movie claud is SO annoying and whiny, and that is not how Claudia would act at all... but to be honest, I'm more Asian-looking than the TV Claudia. So... I guess Im going to have to say TV Claudia... looks aside, she was cooky and adorable just like the real Claudia. Her wardrobe in the TV show was much more fitting to her character as well... All the crazy hats and bright colors and whatnot... Movie Claudia looks like she shops at Target... I highly doubt the real Claudia would be caught dead in a whole new and store-bought outfit...
Mary Anne: This is another one i'm on the fence about... TV Mary Anne didn't really look how I thought she would... (maybe because it was obviously pre-makeover???) but also she just didn't seem as desirable to Logan as I would have liked. Logan and Mary Anne were smitten about eachother (usually) and the movie portrayed their relationship a little better- insecure puppy love... There were multiple times in the series where Mary Anne put Logan right next to, if not ahead, of the BSC, which is what not abnormal for a 13 year old girl to do... and I think the TV show really wanted to show 7 girls being the best of friends with hardly any ripples in the water... However... just analyzing Mary Anne, and not she and Logan's relationship, neither Mary Annes really seemed like the super sensitive crybaby she was described as in the books. At least TV Mary Anne was a genuine sweetheart.. she was shy and soft spoken, while Movie Mary Anne is just awkward-not really shy... so again i'm going to have to go with personality and say TV Mary Anne. Just an FYI tho... I LOVED MOVIE MARY ANNE... I went out and got the exact same haircut (which was also a little off.. Mary Anne's Hair cut in the books was more of a pumpkin head bowl cut style... not really a bob) I also found a white and yellow striped polo shirt and purple stir-up pants (just like the scene in the movie at the stables) at a garage sale, both of which I definitely got my money's worth from.
Stacey: I have to say TV Stacey- Minus the gigundo frizz hair... she dressed the way Stacey was supposed to dress... blazers, Men's shirts, mini-skirts, etc.... very cutting edge and fashionable for the time... Movie Stacey's wardrobe did not make an impact whatsoever... her clothes were very boring which made Movie Stacey blend in with the other members rather than stand out... And although Mary Anne was always my favorite... I thought Stacey was THE COOLEST GIRL AROUND. So confidant and smooth... Movie Stacey was little timid and less sure of herself. One thing though, I did always imagine Stacey to be a little waif-y (maybe bc at the time I read the books, the only person I knew with diabetes was my 95 pound grandmother).. and TV Stacey was a just little thick. Still, I say TV Stacey. TV Stacey's NYC attitude shined through her sophisticated style... Movie Stacey seemed uncomfortable and out of place when she went back to New York.
Dawn: DEF. TV Dawn. In practically every book, Dawn's hair is described as "almost white." Movie Dawn looks more like a midwesterner than a west coast girl. She did not have ONE "California" feature which is something that was always associated with Dawn. TV Dawn has some substance. She can be a little catty, especially towards meek Mary Anne, just like in the books... but also, just like the books, she has a heart of gold and a genuine concern for others. Movie Dawn isn't cheeky and did not seem truly passionate about the environment... or anything for that matter. Movie Dawn is lame... Alex Mack was awesome tho...
Mallory: I have to go with Movie Mallory.... She actually looked 2 years younger than the other girls and between 11 and 13 girls change an awful lot. Personality wise, both girls were dorky and lovable, which is Mallory to a T. I definitely could have done without the bowties and little man clothing Movie Mal wore... but my vote is still with the Movie... Also... TV Mallory looks like my cousin Bitsy... I just can't look past that.
Jessi: Movie Jessi... As with Mallory, Movie Jessi actually looks and acts 2 years junior of the other girls. But my biggest qualm with TV Jessi isn't her age... it's her style-of clothes, dance, everything. Jessi, in my opinion seemed a little more classically trained. I know in "Stacey and the Cheerleaders" Jessi helps Stacey whip up a kick ass jazz/hip-hop type routine, but still... my impression of Jessi is that she was a just little more reserved and a little less, i don't know, cool, for lack of better terms. That may have something to do with the age thing as well... Jessi and Mallory just weren't as mature as the other members. The movie, I think shows that well, both looks and personality wise. The TV Show, everyone all looks and acts the same age.
Logan: I have to say TV Logan bc I thought he was so dreamy-which is the reason I think there was a Logan in the first place. To be the gorgeous, sweet, sometimes fumbling compliment to Mary Anne. I liked Movie Logan too... but his accent was WAYYYYYY too cheesy. I really don't recall TV Logan having a thick southern drawl, which is too bad bc I love me a southern accent... (and bc everytime Logan was described, his Kentucky accent was one of the first things mentioned.) Logan was also always described as a clean cut guy... Movie Logan is too scruffy. And... just sayin'... but he don't look NOTHIN like Cam Geary.
Alan Gray: TV Alan Gray for sure. Out of the two Alan Grays I could not see Movie Alan putting yellow m&ms on his eyelids pretending to be Lil Orphan Annie... TV Alan was charmingly obnoxious... Movie Alan was uncomfortably pathetic. While I never imagined Alan to be an overweight guy... I sure never considered him to be a skinny beanpole nerd who wore flannels and suspenders. The real Alan Gray was always wearing a grey sweatshirt... or sweatpants. He seemed like lazy but lovable guy... and when did Alan start liking Dawn anyway? I always thought there was a little sexual tension between he and Kristy.

yeah I guess she did, but her hair was way too frizzy though I did like it in the early 90's.

I really think the TV show did a great job of picking girls who looked like the characters from the books! When I saw the first show, I couldn't believe what a great job they did picking girls, who looked exactly like I pictured them looking in the books!

I picked the TV show girls because I just thought they hit the mark with all of them.

I picked the TV Actresses, because they did a great job portraying the characters. But I do like the Movie Claudia they chose.

I'll have to rewatch some of the TV episodes to decide on all of them, but I already know I like TV Kristy better than movie Kristy. I didn't vote for this, but TV Jessi HAS to be better than movie Jessi. I couldn't stand movie Jessi!

I voted about 50/50 between TV and movie people. u4me, I thought TV Jessi came off as smart, mature, and funny/sassy. Basically she was what she was supposed to be in the books.

I'll definitely have to YouTube the TV shows. I didn't like movie Jessi because she looked NOTHING like the books described. She wasn't long and graceful. She was short and, well, not graceful. I hated the beginning when they described her and said something about she'd rather dance than walk and she did this little hop/leap thing. It looked ridiculous.

I remember not liking either Logan. I love Austin O'Brien (movie Logan) but he wasn't Logan to me.
I mostly like the tv show actresses better. In fact, I think I like tv Mary Anne better than book Mary Anne. She seems so genuinely sweet, something I don't think she really was in the books. She's too tall but it doesn't matter much to me.
I hardly remember Mallory and Jessi from the tv show and especially the movie.
TV Kristy is so much better than movie Kristy!
I agree with what others said about Claudia. TV Claudia doesn't look Asian enough but at least she looks funky.
Movie Dawn looked nothing like I pictured her. TV Dawn wasn't perfect but she was better than she as in the movie.

I picked about half and half. My biggest gripes with the TV show characters, and why I can't vote for them:
TV Mary Anne is huge. Yay for a tall-ish girl (I'm 6'4" myself so I definitely love a taller girl on TV) but Mary Anne is supposed to be taller than only Kristy in the entire eighth grade. The fact that she's bigger than the entire BSC is not okay.
TV Dawn has this awful awful accent that is TOTALLY NOT CALIFORNIA IN THE SLIGHTEST. Seriously.... they couldn't have found ANYONE without an accent to play the girl from California? The only one of them who SHOULDN'T sound like she's from the east coast? That is an unforgivable sin, so even though I like her look and her attitude better as Dawn, I have to go with Larissa as Dawn just for that reason.

Kristy ~ BOTH. I like both Kristy portrayals. The only thing that bothered me about TV Kristy was that she had braces at once point and Kristy never had braces.
Mary Anne ~ Movie Mary Anne, hands down. The TV Mary Anne seemed to tower over everyone, which always bothered me. She was mild spoken; however, I felt that Rachel Leigh Cook spoke softly and mildly in the role so it didn't bother me. Also, RLC had the body type that I pictured Mary Anne to have over T.V. MA.
Claudia ~ Movie Claudia. At least she was slightly Asian. Sorry. I can't get over the fact that TV Claud does not look Asian at all. And movie Claud, although a bad actress, did present a spaced-out look that I see Claud having.
Stacey ~ Either. She's the only one where time matters to me. If the TV show was about 1990 and the book was 1995, time would matter. I didn't mind each description. Because if 90s Stace was presented in 95, she'd be outdated. I felt movie Stace had a bit too perfect teeth but whatever! The closeness with Rosie Wilder bothered em more.
Dawn ~ Movie! The Secret World of Alex Mac power!!!! I thought Dawn was a great role for her and she had some of the passionate, seriousness down. Sorry but knowing that TV Dawn is a short black haired woman kind of ruined if for me. Also, the accent!
Jessi ~ TV. In the movie I noticed they gave her some of the most ridiculous, filler lines.
Mallory ~ Either. (Sorry TV Mallory, the wig you wore didn't help persuade me). I'm indifferent.
