I think it has been mentioned before that there is an author named Rodowsky. Well, I found one of his books at a library sale a few weeks ago. It is called What About Me? and looks amazing. It was written in 1976, has a homely looking girl who is hugging a Sears catalog and a Sesame Street record on the front cover, refers to her little brother as both retarded and a mongoloid on the back cover, and is dedicated to "Sister Maura", whom I'm going to assume was a very excited nun.

^that sounds pretty cool to come across!
The lady I work with has her niece volunteering at the school this week... her name is Sammy, so of course I thought of the egg.

I watched "A Spoonful of Sugar" from Mary Poppins and immediately thought of.. well, Ann, but also Stacey and someone's comment that it seemed weird for her 'sophisticated NYC girl' image. Do we know if any/all the other BSC members like Mary Poppins? I always thought it seemed like something Mary Anne might've enjoyed, but maybe she found it too childish? And celaeno, that's definitely a Claud-approved bracelet!

Nah, actually in #53 Kristy for President, SMS is going to put on a production of Mary Poppins, and the BSC complains about how it is too babyish, and they want to put on something more mature. I don't know if the ghostwriters were attentive to detail or just got lucky, but Stacey was silent during that whole discussion.

I see Stacey's love for Mary Poppins kind of like our love for the BSC--perhaps for some of us, the fact that we have thousands of posts discussing a book series aimed at elementary school would seem to be out of character, but it's just something we love.

Stacey was probably silently all "OMG Mary Poppins play!"

"Can we set it in New York instead of London? That would be so fresh."

Funny, sounds like my dad's idea for transporting My Fair Lady to Boston.

So I started playing The Sims as an app on my phone awhile ago. I made some random guys then I started to make the members of the BSC. So far I have Stacey, Mary Anne, Claudia, Kristy, Dawn, Mal and Jessi. Kristy and Jessi are firefighters. Mary Anne and Claud are artists. Stacey was a politician (now she's a mayor). Mal and Dawn are scientists, but you actually have to send them to work at specified times, and the scientists have to work really early in the morning so I always forget.

I was at the one dollar bookstore this afternoon and overheard a young girl (probably between 8-10) tell her mom she was trying to find the first BSC book--KGI. The LS and BSC's are on the front and back of one book shelf at the front of the children's section. I was standing at another shelf looking for "My Secret Unicorn" books. I had noticed a 3 in 1 version of the first 3 BSC books and it made me smile to be able to bring that over to them. They thanked me and later I could hear the girl getting a few more of the series. Always nice to see a new BSC fan in the making.

That's so nice to hear that! I would love to hear a kid at a store saying she was looking for BSC books.

^ It really did brighten up my day. I had to keep from suggesting what titles she should get.

How are the little girls now going to hear about them, except from their moms & aunts?
