Hahaha! It cracks me up that people in their 20s act that way!
I always pictured half a head - like most of his face, but with most of the scalp missing.

^Now I am creeped out thinking of a ghostly half formed Jackie sculpture. Some people truly are immature and/or way too clingy.

I used to picture the same thing but instead of the other side being a mound of clay, I imagined it had been cut in half vertically, leaving a perfect half of a head on a pedestal ;D

^Now that could make for a nightmare. Creepy. I wonder if Claudia ever finished it?

Maybe the face portion was done but the back wasn't? Which is creepy too! Anyway you think of it, it's just creepy! How could this have won an honorable mention!

HAHAHA I love this discussion. Maybe the judges thought the creepiness was intentional in a The Scream-ish way?

I always pictured it looking like an illustration from a Little Sister book. Strong in the center and fuzzy nothingness around the edges.

Hm. I guess it is. That's just the way my mind works!

Good question. Jackie wasn't at the show, was he? I mean did he ever see the half finished sculpture or any part of it for that matter?

I guess it is only fitting that his sculpture be as disastrous as he is!

i don't think the half-finished bust sounds creepy at all. if anything, claudia probably captured his essence even better by leaving it unfinished, since he's usually a big mess :]

^ That's a good way of looking at it! This is the second BSC book I ever read. It has a certain "feel" to it that I love because it reminds me of being younger. I like the snarkiness of the girls short-sheeting Claud's bed and leaving mean notes. "In my bread box of friends you are a CRUMB" - LOL! ;D

^ I so used that line on a friend once! We were around 11 or 12 and my friend and I were in a big fight and were writing mean notes to each other.

I liked that Claudia had a friend with an interest in art and a friend outside the BSC but I thought that Claudia shouldn't have shirked her responsibilities. I thought that the BSC was pretty immature when they ate all of Claudia's food, wrote mean notes, etc., especially considering that it's Claudia's room that the meetings are held in, though I found the snark funny (such as the traitor rhyme that Dawn made).
