^I never thought about that! It would have been a perfect time for Granny and Pop Pop to have come. I wonder if besides them (assuming they were listed), if Sharon did have anyone besides herself listed on the kids' emergency cards? I had to fill out a 3X5 index card for every class at the start of each new year containing contact information. This was just for each teacher to have on record. The main office, as part of your overall student file, (I'm guessing) would have full information. Knowing Sharon she probably put the wrong phone number on the emergency card.

I found something wonderfully new! Mimi is talking to Claudia about how she saw her grandfather and knew they would fall in love and have children! How sweet! I love how claudia says - wow what a second that must have been.
I don't really believe in that love at first sight nonsense but I guess anything is possible.

^I want to believe it! I wish we had gotten to read about Mimi('s) (and her) husband. The heritage day in "MA Secret in the Attic," could have made for an awesome super special. The sitters and their families and then some of the charges and theirs.

Has anyone ever experienced love at first sight?

Nope, and I don't really believe in it, either.

back in the day i used to watch the montel show religiously, and he said something i've always remembered -- "there's no such thing as true love, because you don't see love, you feel it." kind of cheesy but still true!

I hear what montel is saying though what he's describing can also be a blurry line between love and infatuation, I don't believe in it at first sight either although I believe in soul connections and believe they are with more than one person and doesn't have to be limited to a relationship.

I forgot how much I used to reread this book as a kid. I love how bored Claudia is in the beginning, watching that fly in class. I like her pink cotton dress and white tights outfit. Ashley's vocabulary is really mature for a 13 year old! And I always wondered about this part:
Doe she mean looking to BUY them, or looking to FIND them, like they were lost on the street or something? lol

^Lol, good question! I would hope (or maybe not) Claudia meant she was looking for Mary Anne's reading glasses. Since "we" were never told about this (as it happened), possibly it was years ago. If so, where was Richard or another adult? Reading glasses seems like such an odd thing to leave behind. I have left sunglasses in a booth or table before. Unless Claudia meant MA had left them at school, that would make so much more sense than randomly around town. It is a mystery and very good question.

Reading glasses can be a lot like sun glasses as far as taking them off and forgetting them. She could have left them at a diner booth (reading the menu) or a table at the library. Maybe because I'm getting more forgetful each year it doesn't seem odd at all to misplace something like that. I can see Mary Anne freaking out that Richard would be mad, and Kristy and Claudia racing around town trying to help her find them before he knew they were missing.

^That is a good point, Sparklymouse. Aw, such a scene might have made a younger MA more endearing. It also would have been funny to read about!

I also have fond memories of reading this book with my Grandma, both of us on opposite ends of the couch with our feet touching. It probably makes sense why I loved it so much - both of us were involved in something I love, BSC books, and also enjoying it. It was nice to see an adult get into the world of BSC. Also, she taught me a lot of the funny names - like Papadakis, for example. I also remember her reading a lot of Danielle Steele, but that's a huge Grandma thing anyway!
