That is so sweet, Virgo and BooBoo, too. It also makes me think of Afton who posted many a time that she often read the BSC with her parents. I am so glad all of you and others on here had that. Love really is all that matters, especially early on in life. Lol, I almost posted that I wondered if Mimi and Claudia ever read BSC together! I guess that should be Nancy Drew. It would have been very cool if other than in Phantom Phone Calls we had gotten to read about Claudia and Mimi talking about Claud's favorite series.

i have a feeling mimi read nancy drew, even if she never told claudia about it. she always made such a great effort to really understand claudia, and there isn't a much better way to do that than to read someone's favorite book.

^That is a sweet and great point, Oldhickory. Good to see you posting, too. I can imagine Claudia telling Mimi all about one of her favorite Nancy Drews and Mimi saying something like that sounded so interesting, she needed to read it herself.

I can see Mimi hiding in her room with a Nancy Drew, just like Claudia!

^Yes, that is what I meant. Mimi's death was one of the only true things (besides of course, Louie in his own furry way), I will never be a fan of about the BSC Series. My own Grandma and Grandpa were both and forever will be very special to me. I just loved Mimi, too and wish we had gotten to read more about her.

I agree, she could have lived longer into the series.

The BSC were rather cultishly possessive in this book, but hey, plot devices will out. I actually liked Ashley rather a lot; she was quite creative for a thirteen-year-old, although I hated the way she insisted on praising Claudia's art. I mean, really, if Claud's fashion is anything to go by, her art can't be all that, either. And zoar3 the thought of Mimi reading ND books, with Claudia or otherwise, is making me tear up...

haha I was about to make a cult comment just now and read your post, but I was going to say ashley talks like she runs an art cult or should start one
If Claudia read what you're saying about her baggy white shirt on the cover, she'll tell you it's like a canvas waiting to be splattered with paint or something lame excuse like that LOL love you claud

I can kind of understand the BSC's point of view in this one, even if I don't agree with the way they handled it. I believe that the girls should have a friend and outside interests from the club for sure, there is no doubt about that. It's part of growing up. So I was glad that Claudia met a girl who had an interest in art. I can see her point of view as well since I wasn't good at school but I loved writing. I joined all sorts of online communities dedicated to writing or even book forums because it's nice to share and talk to someone who has the same interests. None of my friends were big readers, and they definitely didn't write stories. I just feel everyone went overboard. Claudia went from having a variety of interests and friends just to hanging out with Ashley and art. I'd be upset too if I were the BSC if my friend kept ditching me, when we had plans (like she did to Stacey) and ignoring me. I'd be happy if they had other friends. I have friends, and they have other friends just like I have other friends too. However, that being said I don't think the BSC should have done anything to Claudia's room. I mean, she trusted them to be alone in her room, and there they are going through her stuff, and leaving nasty notes. When I was 13, I felt that my room was private and I am sure other people did/do as well. So if I actually trusted someone enough to sit in my room when I wasn't there, I would not be impressed at all if I knew they'd been snooping or wrecking things, or moving things around in it.
I don't think anyone really behaved well in this book, but also they were 13 so it probably is typical 13 year old behaviour. I didn't like Ashley at all. It's nice for Claudia to have a friend but she basically wanted her to ditch people she'd been friends with a lot longer and to give on baby-sitting. She acted like baby-sitting was so terrible.

I totally agree with Ashley868. I felt like I could relate to both Claudia and the BSC for the same reasons above. I didn't like Ashley at all. She was too snotty and only wanted to hang out with people who liked art. She reminds me of a "friend" in middle school. We both shared our love of reading and writing. But when I wanted to do other things or hang out with my other friends, she got really mad just like Ashley.
I remember after reading this book I tried to be just as dedicated as Ashley in this book (it didn't work...I was a nine year old kid with a really short attention span). Even though Ashley wasn't a true friend, I liked how she and Claudia still remained to be friends. I didn't like Ashley in Claudia, Live from WSTO! because she was a totally different character. While I don't like Ashley herself, I do like her character (she was so snark-able, haha!).

This cover seems weird to me. It looks like the family lives in a townhouse because it appears they have no front yard; their steps come out directly on the sidewalk. Not how I picture Stoneybrook houses.
