She wanted a grilled cheese sandwich and a vanilla milkshake...I would have definitely called the waiter back for that

I don't like Logan ordering for Mary Anne, either, and I don't like Travis ordering for Dawn in "Older Boy." It's just plain rude to do that without even asking the other person what they want.

I forgot Travis did that too. What a creep. Logan's behavior just shows how pig-headed he actually was. He says he knows MA, but he never listens to her. He doesn't notice--or want to notice--how MA has changed. She was still shy and sensitive, but started to become more self-assured as the series progressed.

I like that Mary Anne became more self assured throughout the series. I also liked that she was the one to initiate the breakup - that takes courage! But...I wish they had stayed broken up longer. I would have liked to see Mary Anne single for awhile, or maybe even going on a few dates with someone else. I know they broke up again in the FF series, but I'm not counting that here.

When the Prezziosos are leaving for the hospital to have Andrea, they told Jessi that all her friends were already busy. Does that mean Jessi was their last resort? Ouch.

This book is "in honor of the birth of Olivia Connett Swomley." I put the name into google and the first result that popped up was the Bryn Mawr website. Her name was on an '09-'10 creative writing program list, specifically under "Writing for Children." Thought that was kind of interesting.
Mary Anne describes a shirt she's wearing as "short-cropped." If it's short, it's cropped, and if it's cropped, it's short, so...? When I was little I thought that it exposed her midriff or something and was kind of confused by that.
I really love how they celebrate V-Day at their meeting, sitting around talking and eating chocolate and red hots and painting their nails red. So different from the tense awkwardness in Abby's Un-Valentine.
Oh, and I had lasagna and broccoli a couple of nights ago and it reminded me of the dinner Logan makes Mary Anne. Sadly, no chocolate cake.

Aw I think I thought of the book too one time when I had lasagna and broccoli. Wish I could have a valentine's dinner with someone.

So different from the tense awkwardness in Abby's Un-Valentine. I love that too! It seems like such a cute, typical thing for a group of middle-school girls to do. I'm sure Claudia junk-food stash was well-stocked for the occasion, too.

I searched and there was no thread for this....?! One book where I don't think I've ever skipped over the subplot when I read it...I don't like Jenny all that much, but she is really likeable here. I like that Jessi also sat for her one time and it wasn't just always MA. Someone already mentioned the yummy-sounding food in the food thread, but that dinner that Logan makes MA and the meal she wants to order at the diner before he jumps in and orders for her - they both sound delicious! Oh, and her plans to sit by the fire and knit sounded so nice. I cracked up during Kristy's chapter when Karen is being all mope-y and wants Kristy to read her a copy of The Dead Bird. That was cool that they included the Karen-Ricky-Pamela love triangle from "Karen's in Love" since that was one of my fave LS books... Mary Anne actually planned to read in front of the fire

Way back when 3 years ago Kylie said: Especially if MA had to be home from baby-sitting by 10 (at the latest) on weekend nights. That really makes a lot of sense! I get cold extremely easily but thought Logan's intent at the park date sounded very sweet. Yes, he was looking quite hot on the cover. I liked when he offerred to help with the snowman. (As I type this I realize Ann didn't even say 'snowperson.' Maybe that's why I liked it. ) Everything else, as Afton often posted, either you need to think of these people as much older or Ann truly was crazy. What 13 year old boy would willingly, put on a tux to woo his girlfriend? Did he expect to literally do just that despite his family being in their rec room? Maybe it's me or the fault of that awful time of month, but I always thought the brown stain might be well...time of month related. Jenny subplot, especially "Flamingo Flight" was very well written and accurate. I liked her talk with Mal and the idea for them to form a "Big Sister" Club. Of course Andrea was a girl. Did the BSC Members really have to wonder at the baby's gender? All Stoneyrbook babies with the exception of both Daniel's (Abby and Nancy) were female. Just like all youngest siblings were female--particularly in households with 2 girls and 1 boy. I hated that about the BSC books. Too predictable. Lol, to poor Jessi being the Prezzioso's last resort of a baby-sitter. I did like reading that scene though. Thanks, BooBoo

I forget the exact wording of it, but Logan's line about how he and Mary Anne had cooled things off and now it was time to start warming them back up makes me laugh. It's so terrible.

^It was rather cheesy. Not too mention containing sexual undertones.
First at the bottom of Page 105-Top of Page 106. MA is shocked by Logan's romantic preparations.
