I agree you with about MA, booboo. I remember that scene in MA and the Secret in the Attic - it made me cry! I'm not a huge Mimi fan, but I actually appreciate her relationship with MA more than I do her relationship with Claudia. I feel like Mimi and Claudia were another relationship we were told about rather than shown.

Gosh this book made me cry! Apparently it was supposed to be called Claudia and the death of Mimi originally or something, how awful! I wish they could have kept Mimi around a bit longer... it seems to me books 24-30 cram in an awful lot of important BSC plots.

I agree Mimi should have stuck around longer. We only had one full healthy Mimi book, and that was when we were just getting to know Claudia too. I feel like I never really got to see what was so special about Mimi and Claudia's relationship.

I think what we saw of their relationship was really sweet and indicated how close they were...the chats they had over special tea, when Claudia was painting her portrait in #2, and when they made dinner, and the times Mimi helped her study. But yeah, I wish there would have been more books that featured healthy Mimi. She's absolutely one of my favorite characters.

I wish I could have read more about Mimi as well. She was one of my favorite characters as well.

I would have liked to have read more about Mimi, over all, healthy, or unhealthy. She wasn't my most favorite characters, But noen the less i liked her, and would have enjoyed reading more about her.

Hmmmm...I never really thought about them keeping Mimi around longer than they did. I just sort of accepted the death as it was.

I never thought about them keeping Mimi around longer, either. Just a question: didn't one of the books say that Mimi had to go to a concentration camp during World War II because she was from Japan?

I just sort of accepted the death as it was. I used to as well. I guess I just appreciate certain characters more these days and think about the "what ifs."

I loved Mimi in The Babysitters Remember where she (nicely) tells off Claudia's mean art teacher. Poor Mimi, she was always such a sweetheart. This book was sad, but not as sad as I expected. Like others, I agree that Clauds reaction was pretty realistic.

I loved Mimi too and I agree with everyone else that said she should have been around longer. I also agree with Kylie's comment that a lot of big changes were crammed into the span of a few books. Maybe those things should have been spread out more - Mimi's death, the return of Stacey to Stoneybrook, the Schafer-Spier wedding.

Maybe Ann didn't plan on writing so many books at the time, and was trying to get the main events done.

Maybe...I know that the original plan was to only write four books - one for each original club member. But they took off and became very popular. I remember reading somewhere that "MA and Too Many Boys" was one of (if not THE) best selling BSC book of all time. I think by that time Ann knew what a cash cow these books were and had no intention of stopping writing them. Hehe.

I wonder when the ghostwriters came in.

The first ghostwritten one was Dawn on the Coast, I believe.
