^ That's how I saw it, too. Jake's weight was mentioned, but it never got its own storyline. That makes me think that he was on the chunky side, but not horrendously so.

Too bad one of Dawn's zany outfits wasn't featured on the cover. I would love to see it in all it's glory. And what's up with Lewis being 5'10 at age 13? Apparently he's already taller than the average adult male. I'm 6 feet and I was no where near that height at 13, even though I was still tall. I always think of the popcorn bin that Claud gets. I got one of those for Christmas one year. They're awesome! Now I want some cheese popcorn.

^ ...aaaaand now I do, too. The cheese flavor was always my favorite when I had access to one of those popcorn tins.

This is an insignificant detail, but I love that this book mentions the popcorn tin that Claud gets at Christmas! Popcorn in popcorn tins is some of worst popcorn you could ever have...but goshdarnit if I don't LOVE popcorn tins, possibly simply because I associate them with Christmas traditions, and love that Claudia got one for Christmas.

I had never noticed the detail of Claudia and the popcorn tin. We used to get one of those almost every year from one of my dad's business associates. The cheese popcorn was my favorite, but I don't think I could eat it these days.

I like the Christmas popcorn tin traditions too and I agree about the popcorn! They make good storage tins afterwards. I could see Claudia storing art supplies or hiding lots of junk foood inside.

I love how Claudia snuck the popcorn tin up to her room and admitted to the BSC how glad she was her mom and dad were not at home. This makes me wonder if Peaches and/or Russ know of Claudia's (and maybe Janine's, too)secret love for junk food. I would have loved a mention of that (if this is true) in one of the Peaches books. This was a lighter moment in an otherwise horribly sad (Norman parts) book. I just feel awful for Norman as it truly sounded like his entire immediate family was against him. I was thankful at the end Sarah began to befriend her brother but it made me angry that to our knowledge his parents never tried to do the same or apologize. :/ Dawn's new look, sounds completely 80's. For a few years I did subscribe to a couple teen magazines. I really didn't care so much for the articles themselves as the content was simply a distraction or something shorter than a Bobbsey Twin or later BSC book to read. I was never really celebrity struck maybe because I grew up here in LA. I do admit to for a few weeks having some teen mag pictures of I think Chad Allen on my bedroom wall before realizing that really wasn't me. One thing I did finally get answered is that Dr. Johanssen is the Hills' pediatrician. I had thought she had just recommended the BSC to them. I do wonder if perhaps she was part of the three doctor group with Dr. Dellenkamp and maybe just had more hours at the hospital as opposed to a private practice which is why none of the regular charges were her patients. It would have been awesome had Stacey gone to Dr. J for suggestions about the Hills and how they were treating Norman. I would have always liked to read more about their friendship. I know Dr. J may not have been able to discuss them specifically but she could have listened to Stacey and offered general suggestions especially because in this case it truly did seem as though Norman was not in a positive home situation in other ways, too. Just my early, warm Wednesday morning thoughts.

I thought Dr. Johanssen was an ER doctor? I think it varies.

^I think it does, too. We never (that I can remember) read about Dr. J seeing any kind of patient outside of in MA to the Rescue. I am not a fan of that book at all so haven't read in ages but do remember she was doctor to a young boy in the hospital. I always did think it was strange not one of the regular clients went to see her. I think Dr. J mainly worked at the hospital, probably in varying capacities (ER, possibly supervising, and tending to walk ins as well) but probably didn't have much of at all (outside of this mention of the Hills) a private pediatric practice and in a medical (non hospital) building.

Plenty of ped's work in the hosptials and in the ER. in fact, the ped. ER at the hospital back home is named for my son's namesake, Lawrence Epple, who was a ped.

Definitely. She would buy bags of it for meetings, since the others seem to all love popcorn too.

Has anyone heard of a chain of popcorn stores in Chicago? My folks were just there for their anniversary and they were astounded by the popularity of these stores they saw!
