I liked this book - other than the stupidness of the egg assignment and the way MA and Logan seemed kind of dumb about it. I especially liked Kristy's "husband's" interest in the egg and got a kick out of the beds for the eggs. My favorite chapter was the one where Stacey sits for the Gianillis (sp?) and Alicia is terrified of eggs and confused because the egg is named Bobby. I love Alicia - she sounds so cute - and like Bobby in the Little Sister books (though he is a "bully") and wish the BSC would have sat more for them. Also liked the scenes where MA sits for the twins - probably because I love reading about sitting for babies.

I loved reading about Mary Anne sitting for the babies too. (Well, except in my earlier example where she left the twins crying in order to go get her stupid egg..) I thought it was cute that Dawn and Mary Anne wanted a baby sister. I mean, yeah, when you think about the sex Richard and Sharon would have had to have in order to give them a baby sister, it's quite creepy. But obviously thoughts like that aren't popping into MA and Dawn's heads! Oh I loved the "environment" Kristy and Alan created for Izzie. Educational posters on the walls of the shoebox. hehe!

^^That would so be Kristy! I'm surprised she didn't add pictures of famous women leaders or something on there. You know, so the baby will be inspired or something. Wait...wasn't Izzie a boy? Well, okay..if he was a boy, then famous male leaders.

I've wondered why Ann made Alan turn out to be a good parent to that egg? Was it just to surprise us and nothing more, or was she trying to make us think differently about him?

^ I think we were supposed to believe that underneath it all, Alan was really a sweet, sensitive young man. At least, that's the impression I got.

You see the sweet, sensitive side of Alan more in Stacey's Movie and the FF series... it's amazing, character development that occurs over more than two books!

^ wow... I haven't read the FF series yet... I got them all from eBay ages ago (I'm missing a couple, though) and have heard very mixed reviews. The covers are not the BSC as I know them, but I still look forward to reading the series.

Yeah, I like pics of the girls from the FF covers since they look more like what I pictured those girls to look like, more so than the regular series.

I quite like the FF series! There are some books that are totally boring, and really only about 3 or 4 that I reread a lot, but overall, I do like the series.

hahaha, again - word. And jen, your Richie/Sharon babymaking scenario is hilarious. Agree! Another thought on this, Sharon with a baby is somewhat frightening. As scatterbrained as she is (hedge clippers in the fridge, etc) one could only imagine where she might out or leave a child. The washing machine??? The roof of the car??? Makes you wonder how she raised Dawn and Jeff. Maybe that is why she had to move home closer to her parents after the divorce - though they don't seem to be around much.

^^I would have never thought about Sharon and a baby and her scatterbrain ways. I wonder if she was always like that? I mean, I can't imagine what it must have been like with Dawn and Jeff growing up with her being all flighty and forgetting things. It makes me think that the kids had to watch over her more than she watched over them.

Sharon is the kind of mother who probably forgot to bring the baby when she went out. Like she'd arrive at the shops (or wherever) and the carseat would be empty. Or she'd walk an empty pram (stroller) around the streets, thinking how lovely it was that bubs was so quiet and content. Stupid woman. Dawn and Jeff were lucky to make it through infanthood.

^^ didn't they have Mrs. Bruen (the housekeeper-however you spell her name) then? If they did, do you think she took care of the kids? I would imagine that Sharon and Jack woudl have someone watch them occassionally. Does anyone know if Sharon stayed home when the kids were little?

^ I thought Mr Schafer hired Mrs Bruen when Jeff moved back to California. I could be wrong, though.
