it makes sense to me. the girls expect claudia's creative ability to extend to physically building something. i think they assume that if she can make jewelry from scratch, she should be able to built a float from scratch. cakes are pretty, therefore claudia can make a cake. in KGI kristy makes a comment (during the brainstorm where they designed the building blocks logo) that claudia understand that you can only ever see three sides of a block at once, and she just "sees those things better than we do" or something along those lines, and they see her doing projects all the time, so i honestly think they just give her a ton of credit and assume she can make anything that she can visualize.

Also, Claudia being an automatic genius at anything remotely creative makes for an easy scapegoat plot wise

Well, they also made Mallory be "into art" again with the costume making, since drawing didn't go very far after taking the art lessons in NYC, and her collages suck!

I always tend to forget about this one. Maybe it's a subconscious effort? Anyway, I noticed some foreshadowing. Maybe it wasn't intentional but they talk about "too many babies" a lot and Stacey wants to call their float, "New York, New York" which is the name of the SS that came out at the same time as this one. The energy of this book was off. Baby parades always seemed like a bore to me when I was younger. The learning-about-babies stuff was fine, especially since this is the BABYSITTERS club, but then the parade bit thrown in was weird. Kristy thinks of the whole plan and doesn't really do anything much to construct it, other than make her own outfit.

I forgot completely about the "new york, new york" scene, very clever!

Even simple floats are plenty of work. Building things takes tons of time!

The e-book was released recently with the new version cover and I read people's comments complaining, "Where is the old cover!?"

The new one is tons better, IMO.

^Thanks, Greer. I love the rocking horse. I still tend to prefer the original covers to the new. This cover is much better than the orange blob.

The new cover is way better looking, but I think I prefer the old one, because I'm nostalgic like that.

I liked seeing the shoe float and the little pink clown outfit on the original. I've always genuinely liked this one which does not seem to be the popular opinion.

I actually did like the float ideas. At first, I didn't like Mary Anne's idea of dressing the babies as cats but then, it grew on me since I remembered a photo I saw on twitter in which a baby is in a one piece pajama with a lion's mane at the hood and two ears. It was adorable. Also, Mary Anne's Raggedy Ann costume reminded me of a Raggedy Ann called Annabelle, which is supposedly possessed by a demon.

The cat float sounded cute to me but of course, I also love cats. lol. I liked how all the girls came up with a float idea that centered around their personal interests. At least they realized how silly all those floats would've been. And I liked that their float wasn't perfect and that they realized it was because they stopped working together and did their own thing. The mini-club reunion at the end was cute.
I also liked that all the club members took a class on infant care. Gave them an excuse to baby-sit more kids I guess, lol.
