That's like New York! In Jessi and the Jewel Thieves, Quint mentions not knowing his neighbours, and Jessi finds that really strange.

Was anyone else really disappointed by the illustration of Stacey on this cover? I found my copy with the old cover, and she looks a little different from the teeny portrait of her on the new covers, but still. That isn't how I picture a thirteen-year-old Madonna

I don't know, I thought she looked fine on this cover. My favourite thing about the cover was Dawn's jumper. I remember wanting one just like it.

^ I thought Dawn looked great on this cover, for the record. Stacey looked okay, but she had horse teeth.

Is this the cover where they're all sitting on the stools at the restaurant or whatever? If so, Stacey looks absolutely hideous. It's the picture that they used for the side of the covers right? Or am I totally off track?

Yeah, this is the cover they took the picture of Stacey from for the new covers.

i've always happened to like this cover. i think stacey looks pretty sophisticated on it. plus it's cute to see all the girls on a cover where they're not glowering at each other like on MA's Makeover.

Yeah, this is the cover they took the picture of Stacey from for the new covers. That was such a bad choice. But then, what cover does Stacey actually look good on? I just realised right this second that she was always given a rough deal where covers were concerned!

After a quick glance at the book cover icons in the bsc_icons LJ community...
She looks relatively good on the new cover of The Truth About Stacey, but then, she looked horrible on the old one. And the new cover probably wouldn't have been a good choice for the side-of-the-new-covers because Stacey looks kind of depressed on it.
Stacey's Lie could have worked! But it's kind of sad that I had to look through that many covers to find an acceptable one.

Ditto... hell I live in apartment building with 8 apartments and I know the people who live in TWO of the eight. And by know I mean I can recognize their face and I've maybe said hi to them a few times. I only know their last names and that's because I've seen them on the mailbox.

I think Stacey should have just gone to her father's dinner, let him pay for nurse to come in and care for her mom, and called in every so often if she was worried. Ditto to whoever said she didn't need to be Super Daughter!

another thing about this book... The neighbors! Okay, I don't know about everyone else here, but if my mother suddenly became ill I dont think I could call up a bunch of friend's mothers and mothers of kids I babysat for and ask them to come over and watch her. She barely knew these people and they were all up in her house giving her mom pills and stuff. What a magical place this Stoneybrook is... Ya know I had the same thought! Never in a million years would my mom stand for that. And she didn't even ASK her if they could come.

Ditto to whoever said she didn't need to be Super Daughter! ITA! Never thought of it from this angle, but you're so right. If I was Stacey's mum, I certainly wouldn't want a bunch of virtual strangers popping in every hour to administer my pills

It's not like Stacey's mom was dealthy ill. She's a grown woman, I thought she was perfectly capable of taking care of herself for a day and a half.

Yeah, I just reread the book and I don't see why Stacey was making such a big deal out of it. Seems like she was just too enthusiastic about the roles being reversed.
And I agree about the neighbours. I can see Mrs. Pike checking in once in a while to help out Stacey, but having people from all over the neighbourhood taking care of Stacey's mom at night?
