^ I pronounce it like that, too - I figured it meant the Perkins didn't like the ma in mariah and wanted it to be softer/longer or something.

I always pronounced it like Mariah Carey. And Jaffe is "jaff-ee"; one of my professors has Jaffe as his last name.

Ugh...it is always driving me crazy about how to pronounce Myriah's name. I always pronounced it like my-riah. Like cokiemason said, it doesn't flow nicely AT ALL. I THINK you are supposed to pronounce it like "Maria" since Claudia misspelled Myriah's name in one of her babysitting entries in one book (I don't remember which book, though). However, Claudia may misspell things by the wrong pronunciation...

It's like Mariah, just spelled differently. My cousin named her daughter Sabrynah (a take on Sabrina).

I thought of one: how to do you say Jenny P's last name? I always had a hard time saying it.

The real Myriah Perkins must have been born around the late 70s, maybe 1980? It's funny, I never saw too many creatively spelled names in elementary school, but now, they're everywhere.
