Can anyone think of two books published in the same month, for example, a regular BSC book and a Mystery, or a regular book and an LS book, where the events in one book obviously took place before the events of the other book? In my readthrough, I figure it'll be simplest if I usually read the regular book first, and then whatever spinoffs were published that month, but if there are any months when events in a spinoff book happened first, I'd like to read that book first.
Oh, and as warped as the BSC chronology is, there are some things like Baby-sitters on Board! and the entire KiMCC series that are too hard to try to fit into it. Stuff like that, I'm definitely just reading in order of publication and not worrying about the series timeline. I was just wondering about the order in which to read books published in the same month.

Off the top of my head:
-M#18 (Stacey and the Mystery at the Empty House) and SS#12 (Here Come the Bridesmaids!) were both published in December 1994, and M#18 comes first because Dawn hasn't returned to Stoneybrook yet
-#101 (Claudia Kishi, Middle School Dropout) and SM#3 (Baby-sitters' Fright Night) were both published in October 1996, and SM#3 comes first since Claudia is still in 8th grade in that book

Off of the top of my head, you mentioned KiMCC, but that was published much later than the original LS sister series. For example, Kids in Ms. Coleman's class #1, Teacher's Pet, was published in 1995. But. by 1995, Karen was already well into Grade 1 (she joined Gr. 1 in #1 KiMCC).

Thanks, guys. That's a great list, zoar. I used to read SS #1 after #9 when I did readthroughs as a kid and the series was still being published because that's the place it makes the most sense in the series timeline, but this time I'm reading it after #14 according to the publication chronology.

^One reason I put it before #9 is because Dawn actually makes rererence to the trip she took to DW. However, you re-read, I hope you enjoy. I look forward to your thoughts on each book.

^Huh? You have it between #9 and #10 on your list, the same place I've always thought it fit best. #9 starts when the club members are seeing each other for the first time, after being separated for two weeks in #8, and it ends with a week left before school starts, which would explain why they can be out of school for a week. (I just have to ignore the fact that they'd all have to make plans for the trip immediately after the book ends and fly to Florida the next day!) I've never noticed Dawn making any reference to the WDW trip.

I think it's one of those "alternate" summers that happen every year in Stoneybrook much like all other seasons! I haven't read this one in a long time. I don't remember if DW was mentioned or what was said about poor Mimi. ITA that #9 is the "last" book of the summer before their first year of 8th grade. Since "Sea City" is mentioned in #9, (if DW is not) than SS1 can really be anywhere you want it to be.
