Are there any books you decided to read because references were made in the series?
I read Charlie and Chocolate Factory when I saw it on my cousin's bookshelf in the early 90's and fell in love with it. I couldn't stop reading it. I knew about it cause of Karen's Birthday. Several Karen books had made a reference to it, as well as Little Miss Stoneybrook and Dawn
I was already familiar with the Beverly Cleary books.

I read Little Women because Mary Anne read it.

I'd like a list of all the books mentioned in the books just to see how many I have read.

I didn't read any of those because of the BSC books but I was always a bit intrigued by Impossible Charlie.
Wasn't Pride and Prejudice mentioned too? Kristy's friend Mr. Staples says that it was his late wife's favorite book.
I read East of Eden because of Sweet Valley though.

Fairy3lf2, Pride and Prejudice was mentioned as Gertrude's (Mr. Staples late wife) favorite book. I did read Pride and Prejudice in high school. I thought that it was boring.

Yeah, LS wasn't included in the CG, nor the books mentioned after #100.

Thanks for the list, Booboo. I have the complete guide and have never bothered to open it. Just glancing at the list I think I've read very few. Two thumbs up to Frog and Toad though.

I don't remember reading any particular book BECAUSE of the BSC, per say, but I have read a lot on the list above. Many of them were required reading throughout elementary school. No surprise that Ann has "good taste" in books. Some of the authors on the list still remain among my favourite authors of all time!

^ I loved Frog and Toad esecially their tale about eating too many cookies when I was little. BooBoo, great job and thanks for this list. I didn't realize some of the titles on it are "real" books. I will have to check out (among others) "Goops," the book Mallory was going to buy for Buddy as a reading reward in "Mystery Diary."

Thank you BooBoo for the list. Some of the books, I read because they were good books to read. I'll check the other books, sometime.

Wow! Awesome list! I don't know if there were many books I read because of the BSC, the only ones I remember being mentioned numerous times were the Misty horse books, haha and Jacob two-two.

I don't know if I read Nancy Drew because of BSC, but I subconsciously may have started to cause Claudia was one of my favourite members. My dad had bought me a nancy drew at a yard sale, and the ones I read later were from the school library
