I always cry at My Girl as well.

It's funny you guys bring that up. Has anyone seen the movie "My Girl"? There's a scene where Vada and Thomas J. do the blood brothers thing, but apparently the scene gets cut whenever it airs on t.v. so as not to promote doing that sort of thing. I never wanted to do a blood brothers - even without thinking of HIV/AIDS, the thought of that really grosses me out. This has got to be one of my favourite BSCLS books in the series. I loved having sleep-overs as a kid, so I can see why I liked it. I hated Nancy in it though, but I guess her reaction was pretty typical of a 7-year-old. I didn't like Pamela very much either, but for some reason I found Nancy's behaviour more obnoxious. Did this book involve anyone sleeping in a tent in the backyard? Or am I making that up? You're halfway right- it begins with the three girls playing "Going Camping" which in turn gives Karen the idea for having an actual sleepover.

^ Ahh, I see. I can almost picture the illustration of that, and I was wondering where it fit in to the rest of the book. Thanks for clearing that up, wenonah4th!

I thought Pamela was horrible in this. So picky! Nancy definitely overreacted, but I guess I have to take into account that she is 7. Karen also overreacts. She should have just let Nancy come to the sleepover when she got the invitation and not take it back. That was very mean!

Pamela's pretty atrocious- but it makes a good "all that glitters is not gold" lesson.

Oh, this is one of my favorite LS books. Nancy was so ridiculous - whining about not getting her invite, so then she rats Karen out for doodling in her schoolbook. Then she gets her invite in the mail after that! And I hated the way Pamela acted at the sleepover, like everyone there except for her was a giant loser. Plus, who the hell can't eat pizza or sleep in a sleeping bag? What a bratty kid.

^ Nancy really made me mad in this one, too. Except I did like how she helped Karen kind of "get" Pamela (though I don't remember exactly how right now ;D) Pamela is a huge brat but I think that's what makes her so funny to me. She's ridiculous enough that I "love to hate" her - kind of like Cokie. ;D

Have to wonder if Cokie was like Pamela when they were littler...

^ I can imagine they were just alike. Now I'm laughing thinking of a younger, smaller Cokie. ;D

Hahaha Pamela "can't" eat pizza because it gives her bad breath.

I loved how Karen then told Pamela that Kristy was going to make her a peanut-butter sandwich instead of pizza, but only a little peanut butter, in case it stuck to the roof of her mouth, or gave her peanut-butter breath. Ha!

^ Pamela must have a real bad breath problem. Karen should have offered her some mints. ;D

This was a good one... Pam and Nancy also annoyed me, but loved nancy's spunk at getting back at Pam!

^ Me too. It made up for her earlier annoyingness, in my opinion. ;D Pamela was so obnoxious that she was funny. Of course, I also wanted to slap her. ;D

It's interesting that Karen and Pamela end up being the two queen bees in Ms. Colman's room later on. I wonder who else would have been before PAmela came?
