I was reading this the other day, and when Watson tells Karen she's going to charm school, he says "and you will learn some manners." From the way it was worded, he might as well have added "because it's about friggin' time." I'm sure that's what he was thinking. Hey, Watson, did you not get the memo that as Karen's parent it is YOUR job to teach the girl some of these manners you deem so important? My god. The line about "Because it's about friggin' time makes me laugh so hard every time I reread this thread..see what you mean, though.. This book was a favorite of mine during my elementary school days..like everyone else, I enjoyed reading about the outfits..and the cooking accidents were a little frustrating although I understand the feeling of wanting to be independent..the one with the rice was kind of funny, though. And the part when the boys crashed the party ticked me off until they actually behaved themselves.

I loved this book when I was little. My favorite bits were the charm school scenes and Karen, Hannie and Melodie dressing up. Their dresses were so pretty.
I wonder do charm schools actually exist in this day and age?

I borrowed from the library. I enjoyed reading this book. I can’t see 7 year olds going to charm school. I know, they did this back in 1700’s. I like the front cover.

I am not a lovely lady, so I would bomb out on etiquette classes. It was mostly a ballroom dance class with random “manners” thrown in. I’m anti-social, so I didn’t care for the small talk bit. Karen was all, “You could talk about the weather. Like, how about that hurricane last night?” Lol, I’m sure that’s what people did after Katrina. I was impressed that Andrew got it in writing when Karen owed him a favor. I love rice, I have a rice cooker, and it still comes out all gooey. Karen needed a sous-chef to help her. There was the same plot with Michelle in a Full House episode. Uncle Jesse set her straight. The class had a little break where they played a game. They had to guess how many tiles were on the floor. Lol, how fun. Ricky had Jeffery Dahmer glasses. Attachments:

In that full pic, Karen and Ricky look like a miniature elderly married couple.
