The first time I read this one, I thought Karen was kind of pushy and felt for Natalie but then I realized “THAT’S ME!” I tend to do the same type of thing that Karen does in this book and have had to really be careful, especially when tutoring or giving lessons, not to just yank something away from someone and do it myself. A lot of times, I have found, though, that kids learn better by watching someone do it right the first time and then trying to model that. This even seems to be the case with Natalie in this one. I think she learns how to write the speech, etc (or at least gets started in the right direction) by modeling Karen. So after thinking about how I am just like Karen in this one, I don’t feel like she’s doing anything bad (or I’m just a fellow brat ;D) because she means really well and just gets carried away. I tend to do this all of the time, too, and can really relate. I enjoyed that this book was the one where the decision is made for them to go to Chicago. I had wondered if that was actually in a book because I haven’t read this one for a really long time so didn’t remember.

Gosh, it's been a long time since I read this, I remember it being the only LS book that I found in Target's book section years ago lol. All I remember is that Natalie became the Snow Princess, after that my mind goes blank.

^ It's a good one. Karen does help Natalie become the Snow Princess at the end. Ah, the days when they had LS at Target.... ;D I still check every time, though. ;D

Yeah, I miss the good old days where you could find LS at Target... and anywhere else that sold books! My favorite place to go was at this mall in my area called Woodmar (which they took down with a wrecking ball a few years ago ). They had a huge Bargain Books store and every Saturday my mom would take me there and let me buy 3 new LS books because I usually finished them quickly. Man, that was awesome, I miss that place .

I actually liked this book, I felt Karen was a bit pushy but I think her heart was in the right place. I think she really wanted to help Natalie feel good about herself. I also felt how in the past she might have wanted to both light the town and be the snow princess but she helped Natalie instead be the snow princess.

I think a lot of Karen's pushiness comes from her "go getter", "doer" type personality. When she sees something that needs to be done, she makes sure she gets it accomplished and often goes overboard in the process. I'm a lot like that so I can really relate. I think that's why I liked this book so much - I could see myself the whole time I was reading it. ;D

I did hate group projects in school as well, I always ended up doing most of the work because I would get stuck with lazy group members.

^ Me too. Of course, sometimes I'm glad for the lazy ones because then they just let me do it. (Another case of me being like Kristy, I guess. ;D) I can see Karen being like that, too, and am actually surprised that she works as well as she does in groups. I know I don't so could totally understand and relate if she didn't. I thought Karen's "attire" to make sure she got noticed to flip the switch was hilarious in this book. Also something I can see Kristy (and possibly myself ;D) doing.

^ Totally agree with that. Karen's brains are one thing I really like about her. She gets big ideas and finds ways to get things accomplished.

i'm a bit like that too. i always hated group projects in school--if you want something done right, do it yourself I agree, the only person you really can count on is yourself . I hate doing group projects at school, I always get stuck with lazy a** people who don't want to do anything. The worst part about it is if you're in a class where you don't know anyone and the teacher tells you to pick your own groups and you're left standing there like an idiot lol. It's much better if the teachers pick the groups so then you don't have to look like an idiot, but I'd still rather work alone- I get things done faster if I'm by myself .

Yeah, my psychology teacher this year is really heavy into group projects, luckily his class ended this semester so I don't have to deal with him anymore ;D.

Yeah, I agree that Karen is very pushy with Natalie. I remember Natalie standing up for herself in Karen's Secret and Karen's Kite. Natalie sure had some guts sometimes... ;D
