After reading Hello Mallory I got to wondering about Jessi and Becca's relationship before they moved to Stoneybrook. In HM, Mal comments that Becca is really good w/ Squirt and Jessi says it's a new development, that back in Oakley Becca was always out w/ friends and cousins and stuff, but now she didn't have that so she was growing closer to Squirt. I kind of think that probably the move to Stoneybrook also brought Jessi and Becca closer because neither made any friends right away or anything and the only had each other.

^ Never thought of that but you might be right. I really like reading about how close the girls are. Becca does seem the more "social" of the two, though, like the kind who needs more friends while Jessi seems a bit more independent. I might be wrong on that, though.

No I agree with you but I think part of this is because Becca is younger than Jessi and isn't as aware of the racial thing. She may notice if kids don't play with her but may not make the connection between that and their race, so I think that makes her more outgoing and Jessi more self-conscious.

That is possible, though I never thought of it like that. I always just thought Jessi was more introverted, naturally, and maybe her focus on her dance also has something to do with it. I know this has been mentioned in another thread that "focused" people don't need as many friends and aren't as social sometimes. But it could be the racial thing, too.

Did anyone sit for Becca & Squirt other than Jessi? I just can't think of any other sitters having been over there, other than, if they happened to drop by with their charges (ie, Charlotte wanting to play with Becca).

My cousins and I used to play a variation of the button game when we were little. We never got tired of it. I did that occasionally with a music box. You'd use the sound to find it so the one hiding it had to be more creative. It opened up the possibility of hiding it inside things.

Mal sat for them when Jessi was at dance school in NYC, and Kristy sat for them one time. Not sure which book that one was in. But I do recall a notebook entry where Kristy is telling Jessi how cute she thinks Squirt is.

Is Becca involved at all with the Krushers? I've never heard this mentioned and thought it was kind of strange. Even though I can't see her playing, Haley and Charlotte and Vanessa are all cheerleaders so I'm surprised she doesn't find something to do with the team.

I think I remember Claudia babysitting for the Ramsey's one time... I'm not sure. Maybe not, but I'm just thinking that she did. I also like Becca and Squirt. Becca seems like a really sweet girl, and I love her and Charlotte as best friends I know that Becca did get really bent out of shape when Jessi went to NYC, but I can see her doing that, afraid that her big sister was going to leave her. I think my sister would get angry with me too, though she's 12. I know she really misses me as it is, because I live in the city now, going to university. As for Squirt, he sounds really adorable, though a handful, but then again, what toddlers don't go through the pokey stage, where they're picking at everything?

I always liked the relationship between the Ramsey siblings. I remember in one book Jessi said she was like Squirt's second mother. With the 10 year age difference, I can see how she would feel that way. I thought it was cute.

^ I liked that relationship, too. I never thought about the age difference between Jessi and Squirt but that difference does create a whole different type relationship. I'm 10 and 14 years older than my cousins and they've always been more like neices than cousins. (despite what Grandma thinks since I'm still on the same "kid" level in her mind ;D) I really enjoyed Jessi and her parents' relationship, too. I liked it how she went to her mom with a lot of the BSC-based problems in several books. I can relate to this as I talk to my mom about almost everything.

my brother and sister are about 15 and 13 years younger than me, and i'm always hoping that strangers don't think they're my kids ;D

I loved Becca in Jessi’s Wish. I thought she was so sweet to Danielle – Charlotte too – and found her attitude very realistic. I also really enjoyed her interaction with Jessi and the scene where she and Char have Danielle over. I think Becca is one of the sweetest, most considerate and sensitive sitting charges and like her a lot. Even in books like Big Break where she can annoy me, I can kind of understand where she is coming from so forgive her for those instances. ;D

I liked Becca, but I'm neutral on Squirt -I guess because he's too young for me to really form an opinion about yet.
