I can relate to Janine's hangups about proper grammar. Claudia's notebook entries would have driven me crazy.

There was definitely so much potential to evolve their relationship in a similar way to the Kristy/Watson relationship, slowly getting rid of the animosity but not making everything perfect in the end. I would have loved to see situations where Claudia voluntarily hung out with Janine.

I would have loved to see situations where Claudia voluntarily hung out with Janine. My stepsiblings and I weren't that close when they were younger, but now that they're older (17 and 15), we enjoy hanging out. If we'd gotten to see the BSC as older, I bet that would have happened for Claudia & Janine, too.

I am a stickler for grammar - my friends get me to read their things that they write up to check their spelling and grammar, and I'm always nitpickity over every little detail (I think I want to be an editor when I finish university ;D) and sometimes I think it drives them a little mad, lol. I would have certainly had fun with Claudia's entries!

I'm not quite that bad, but I could never enjoy it when friends wrote me notes in school because all I noticed was the misspellings and punctuation stuff. I swear I can suck the fun out of anything. ;D

I like Janine. She can't help being a genius. It's not like she's asking everyone to bow down to her. In Mean Janine it's Claudia being mean not her

When I was younger I thought Janine was pretty blah. Now I'm rereading the BSC books as an adult and I find Janine pretty interesting. Whenever she talks about the fear response or how people regulate the coolness/hotness in the climate, I want the author to continue on about what's Janine's saying because I find it fascinating--yet they always cut Janine off. If only she really existed, I would love to have a conversation with her.

Muse, I have to agree. I really think I would have gravitated toward Janine if I'd lived in Stoneybrook.
Now I wonder what sort of computer she was using in #7?

^ I always picture an old-school Apple (maybe a IIe) with the green screen and little green blinking cursor, with an enormous dot matrix printer next to it. :-D

Claudia says something about wondering if Janine's face with turn green from looking at it so long.

I did up Janine's page right over at the wiki. If anyone has more ebooks that they can do a find for her name to see whether she actually appears, that'd be great. (I tend to either delete them or not download them once I have a hard copy, but it's easier to search for random Janine sightings in electronic form. ) wiki.stoneybrookite.org/index.php?title=Janine_Kishi
