Was this Claudia's bf around the end of the series? I haven't read any of the later books in years, but this is the guy she was with after her thing with the fabulous Mark Jaffe, right? He's got a cool name, a. B, he seemed really funny and sweet. Immature though, but at least they were keeping it realistic.

All I remember about him is that he called Ethan "Earring" when he met him in Claudia's Big Party. I hated that book, it was like a bad fanfic.

I liked all of Claud's 7th grade friends. It was nice to see someone hanging out with people not in the bsc.

I thought his name was stupid, and I didn't really buy his relationship with Claudia at all.

When did Claudia and Josh break up? I read a book where they were together, and then one where they weren't, and I never saw the break up... Was it ever mentioned?
I really liked him in Claudia, Queen of thr Seventh Grade. I thought he was adorable.

Ah, one of the books that I don't have. Thanks for that.

It looks like I'm alone but I don't really care for Josh. I haven't read many books with him in it, though. It bugs me how he always seems to try to be a comedian (Claudia Queen of the 7th Grade). Maybe it's just that I don't really go for his particular sense of humor. I might have a different opinion of him, though, once I read more books with him in them. Right now, I admit that I have pretty limited info to go on.

I thought his humor was annoying, but I also thought it was a bit of a defense mechanism. He always tried really hard to be "on" around Claudia and kinda ended up looking like a big freaking dork, but his intentions were sweet, I think.

Just kind of indifferent to him. Didn't think he was that great of a comedian, and his puppy dog act got old after awhile, but he did seem like a good friend. All I remember about him is that he called Ethan "Earring" when he met him in Claudia's Big Party. Heh. I think that's really funny.

I also liked the earring thing and thought it was sweet how he was so protective of Claudia. He seemed a lot younger than her, though. I agree with your thoughts on him, too, sotypical.

I like Josh a lot, but I thought it was totally dopey when he called Ethan "Earring." I can understand him being nervous when they all went out, but not being fixated on the earring. I've never met any twelve-year-olds who thought an earring on a guy was a big deal.

I actually had a few guy friends (one of them reminded me some of Josh - the non-annoying parts) who used to make fun of guys' earrings when they were about 12-17. Where are you from, wanderingfrog? Just curious as I know fashions are different in different parts of the US and the world.

I'm from Nova Scotia. I've probably heard guys make fun of other guys' earrings, although I can't think of a specific time when I did, but I interpreted Josh's reaction to Ethan's earring as him finding it impressive or intimidating or just plain weird. And I never knew any real twelve-year-old boys who would think that, although I can easily picture a boy saying, "Nice earring, f*g," or, "What do you think you are, a pirate?"
I wonder if "f*g" is going to be replaced with asterisks.
