Am I the only one who finds it strange with all the twins and triplets in a town as supposedly small as Stoneybrook? I mean, you've got the Pike triplets, 3 sets of twins in the 8th grade alone, the Arnold twins, and the Salem twins. Am I leaving any out? I'm just interested because I have 16-month-old twins.

Yikes, when they're all listed like that it's pretty alarming. Maybe something's in the Stoneybrook water supply ;D

Well, Anna and Abby were from Long Island...besides the Shillabers, what other twins were there in the 8th grade? I'm drawing a total blank.
(And awww! I bet your kids are adorable. Two of my cousins have twins, both sets are about four. One set of boys, one set of girls. ALL too cute!)

Karen had twins in her class too (Terri and Tammy I think). It does seem a little strange actually that there's so many. I thought about that the other day, how odd it was to have 2 sets of twins in the same grade. Ditto on the congrats for yours too.

Thanks! I'm pretty sure there was a set of boy/girl twins in the 8th grade. I could be wrong, though. I haven't read the books in years.

Maybe you're thinking of Terry and Tasha Hoyt from 'Stacey and the Mystery Money'. They were twins right?

I had three sets of twins in my graduating class. I never thought it was weird, but maybe there was something in my town's water.

I thought about this a lot, too. There's so many twins in the series! I've only known two sets of twins through my life, and no triplets. Let alone as many as there are in the series!

I never thought any thing weird about it. In my graduating class there were two sets of twins (one being me and my sister). In the graduating class ahead of me there were three sets of twins. and 2 graduating class below me there was a set of identical twins and a set of triplets. (and I'm from a town of 5000)

Wow, I never noticed how many multiple births especially twins their were in Stoneybrook, especially twins, however I am obsessed with twins now because I have 7 month old twin nephews who are adorable!

I was just thinking this same thing this morning. It's weird how people on this board keep reading my mind the last few days. I've known several twins but not as many as in Stoneybrook. I guess Ann finds them interesting. I actually do, too, and enjoyed the book Trouble With Twins. Would have liked to have seen more interaction between Abby and Anna as I sensed a real bond there.

I don't think it's that weird-- twins occur in one out of every 80 births, and they're getting more common (don't ask how I know that). It is very weird that most of them are identical, though--fraternal twins are way more common.
There were two sets of twins in my class growing up, but one set didn't look anything alike. When I was in grade school there was a set of identical triplets one year ahead of me, so I always picture Adam, Byron, and Jordan looking like them--skinny and blonde instead of brown/red-haired and "sturdy."

I don't think it's weird at all. In my 6th grade class alone we had three sets of twins. Then when we went to Jr. high there were more..and by the time my senior year came along, we had three sets of twins named Joshua and Jacob

^Three sets of twins named Joshua and Jacob? Now THAT is weird. I hope your class was about 700 people.
