This is an interesting question, but I feel so removed from what is popular in music and who listens to certain artists that I can't even begin to think about how to answer it! ;D

If they're in their twenties, I don't know if they'd really be crazy about Hannah Montana and High School Musical stuff like Hudgens and Tisdale, but maybe that's just me For some reason I could see Mary Anne liking John Mayer. Gwen does seem like a good choice for Claudia, or Stacey.

oh crap in their TWENTIES... i didn't read that part. I can answer for people in their TWENTIES. I was reading it as if they were 11 and 13 Sorry, but I actually don't know anyone in their twenties who likes any of the people you mentioned, except maybe gwen stefani . Kristy I see as being into rock. I don't see her ever being a serious music person though, and also being very establishment. Whatever future CEOs of america listen to. I don't really know any, so I can't answer for her. Claudia is see as being VERY arty. Blonde Redhead, some very underground stuff that I stopped paying attention to when I moved to Russia. I can see her feeling like a kindred spirit to Bjork. She'd totally go see all of Matthew Barney's movies in NY. Mary Anne I can see really getting into Bob Dylan. Stacey, i think, would be into the french electro scene. She is so sophisticated! Like with fashion, she'd be really plugged into whatever was totally cool at the moment. Dawn I think would be really into 60s and 70s stuff. Like jefferson airplane. She would also really like the soundtrack to easy rider. Abby I think would stay with her love of Elvis and Aretha, so I can see her also getting into Amy Winehouse. Jessi would like classical music and anything she could dance to. Mallory... hmm. Tori Amos?

Of course, it's sad when my grandma gets cds for Christmas of popular groups and I have no clue who they are. ;D

I think Kristy would listen to whatever. Probably a top 40 kind of girl, whatever is on the radio/MTV/popular. Maybe some hip-hop, rap, rock ... but popular stuff, that everyone knows. Claudia would listen to bands that no one else has heard of.... or maybe just "artsy" music. College radio and such. Mary Anne: Boy Bands. Cam Geary,... oh Stacey: Broadway musicals when no one is watching. Also, whatever is "hot" Dawn: Bob Dylan, Jack Johnson, Regina Spektor, Ani Defranco, Tori Amos, coffee shop rock and stuff with a message. Usually mellow stuff. Mallory: Bubble-gum pop, dance, Paris Hilton, Jessica Simpson, Britney, ... whatever rich kid is releasing an album this month Jessi: Classical, dance, hip-hop, pop. Logan: Country music. The music of pain, after M.A dumps his ass Shannon: French music,
God. I'm so old, I don't have a clue what people are listening too. I like a little of everything... but I really have NO idea what people are listening to right now.

Whenever I hear something by Enya, I think that Claudia would like her music.

I can see Claudia really getting into Pink Floyd and psych after entering high school. Abby would like Regina Spector and Alanis Morissete. And Logan would listen to Bon Jovi and Lynyrd Skynyrd...

Kristy- wishy-washy, whatever is on the radio, popular bland music. The bands that end up in the "used" bin at record stores in a year.
Mary Anne- John Mayer leaps to my mind. I can also see her liking a mix of contemporary "chick music", and old standards by Cole Porter. And perhaps jazz, because for some reason I have this mental image of her dad getting her into it.
Stacey- She'd be into all the ultra-hip New York bands before they get popular
Dawn- Dylan, The Beatles, Joni Mitchel, Janis Joplin, and such.
Claudia- I can see her really getting into the Velvet Underground, and generally going for "art rock" and experimental music.
Abby- good call greer on Amy Winehouse! She'd also probably have a collection of Motown and Phil Spector produced 60s girl groups.
Mallory- hmm, hard to know what she'd be into in her 20s. As a teen she'd love all those boy groups I'm sure but I honestly can't imagine what her taste in music will be beyond that.
Jessi- um.... classical and jazz?

Kristy - The Beatles, Dave Matthews Band. Maybe something like Fallout Boy. She'd probably like very mainstream stuff and have uneven taste in music. Mary Anne - Broadway (Wicked, Hairspray, The Secret Garden). As songheim suggested, John Mayer. Also, Dar Williams. Dawn - NPR Podcasts, Polyphonic Spree. Agree about Ani DiFranco. Also, Jack Johnson, Watercolor Paintings, Indigo Girls, Willie Nelson Stacey - I could see grown-up Stacey being quite business-oriented, and not necessarily cutting edge, in terms of the NYC music scene. She'd probably have language instructional MP3s in something useful, like Mandarin. Musically: Feist, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Elvis Costello, Johnny Cash Mallory - Laura Nyro, Joni Mitchell, Rufus Wainwright Jessi - Music to work out/dance to. Agree about Rihanna. Anything up tempo, and some classical selections. Claudia - Kimya Dawson, totally agree about Bjork. Tiny Masters of Today, Bikini Kill, Radiohead, The Yeah Yeah Yeahs Abby - Recordings of comedy performances. Lenny Bruce, Richard Pryor, Margaret Cho.

Aww...I suggested him first ;D I like the ones for Stacey, although I'd switch Laura Nyro to her list 'cause I identify her music with NYC... hehe, Dawn and Willie.

Well, I don't know of any bands or singers that I would pick right now but I picture the song Circle In The Sand by Belinda Carlisle being on Dawn's I-pod.

Probably they'd all have lots of 1990s tunes on their Ipods since they were 1990s teens.
