The last BSC book I needed to complete my collection arrived today! I paid $17.50 (inc. postage) for it on eBay, which is pretty steep for a book I don't even like (Claudia's Big Party), but I don't care, because now I have them all

Lucky duck! I'm scared to buy online, so my collection is based on what I can find at thrift stores. I'm down to the hard to find upper numbers and it's getting annoying. I seriously want to start collecting a different series just so I can have some successful shopping trips. LOL.

It's really hard buying from secondhand bookshops! They really only seem to have the earlier ones. At least, that's what the ones here are like... Is it easier in the US?

I really feel like the main fanbase all grew out of the series at the same time. So many girls were hardcore fans for the first half of the series and then either stopped reading them or grabbed one once in a while. Say ten girls bought book #1. Out of those ten girls, maybe two bought #100, three checked it out from their library, and five stopped reading the series by then. I assume the upper numbers are harder to find because there were fewer copies in circulation to begin with. And yes, I do squeal like a big dork when I find one I need.

There's one half-priced book store around where I live that actually has newer books. It's still very hit and miss, but I NEVER see newer ones at thrift stores, just at this one store.

Lucky! I'm getting pretty close, but I still have a lot of those higher numbers to look for as well. Myabe after I sell some of the doubles and triples on Ebay that I've collected in my own search for a complete collection, I'll actually have the money to start buying the ones I don't have again!

My problem is that my sister and I started re-collecting them together... but that basically came to both of us buying them for her to keep at her house. I really don't have a collection of my own, it seems VERY daunting to start from square one (seriously, this is what I'd need to do!) but I really want to. It's a pain in the ass to have to go over to her house and borrow books, and I can never decide which one to take. I need my own collection! I'm kind of thinking of just saving a bit of money and buying a huge lot on ebay. Ooh actually, that might be a great Xmas gift... I could ask my other sister to do that for me for Xmas. Or have sister 1 "suggest" it to sister 2

^ Yeah, but its not a fan-reliving-your-past collection if you haven't staked out all the second-hand shops in your area

it seems VERY daunting to start from square one (seriously, this is what I'd need to do!) but I really want to. I started from the very beginning about a year and a half ago, and you're right it's pretty daunting at first! But it's really fun. I was collecting them in order, but now that I'm getting into the higher numbers I'm pretty much buying any that I don't have as I come across them because I know it gets harder and harder to find them. Anyway, congrats jenlovesmorelli on completing your collection! How exciting. I was super excited when I got the last of the Super Specials, but I still have a ways to go with the regular books.

Does the CD series take place after the BSC regular series ends? Or is it at the same time the regular series is going on when Dawn moves away? I haven't read any CD books yet and I see them around but don't pick them up because i'm sorta reading in order and I don't want to interupt my flow.

I haven't read the CD books either, but from what I've gathered, they take place at the same time as the later books in the series. I mean, Dawn is still in 8th grade in CD, so they just take place after she moved back. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong!

Yeah, the CD takes place during the later series. Gracie (Dawn's half-sister) is born in CD, and it's mentioned in "Mary Anne and the Playground Fight".
