I wonder how different MA would have turned out if her mother had lived.

^I don't think I remember it being stated in a book, but I always assumed he dated since he married Dawn's mom.

^I always assumed he didn't date and that was why he loosened up and got more fun after he got with Sharon. He was finally getting some you-know-what. ;D

^Lol. I'll have to look in MA's Portrait Book and the Complete Guide and see if it mentions anything about him dating or not.

^I don't remember anything being mentioned. I just remember that he supposedly worked a lot.

^Yeah, it seemed like he dealt with the loss of his wife by throwing himself into his work and being strict with MA. Until Sharon showed up, anyway.

^I believe it was In Mary Anne in the search for Tigger.Dont you remember in a book MA said that Richard went on dates with other people but when he especially goes out with Sharon, he wears aftershave that smells like the dentist office and he looks all nervous. How sweet.

Omg, I totally remember the aftershave thing, because I was like ... smells like the dentist office? If you say so, MA. But wasn't it Sharon went out with lots of guys but she was more serious with Richard, or something?
And about what you asked, bscgirl10. I think MA would probably be a lot less shy. Her father seems really reserved; I know he loved her, but he seemed like one of those stiff fathers, if you know what I mean. Perhaps her mother would have been more outgoing and brought her out of her shell a little when she was younger.

He was finally getting some you-know-what. ;D ;D Even if he did go out on casual dates, he probably didn't get any you-know-what. He doesn't seem like the type who would have sex on a first date.

I would say Richard. Apart from a few books, he didn't seem that strict. I also liked Mr. Stevenson, even though he's not on the list.

If Watson had been a better parent to his biological kids (thinking especially Andrew) and if he and Elizabeth had not cast away Emily Michelle on Nannie and David Michael on...Kristy? I would have voted without hesitation for him. Instead, I vote for Richard. Now that I'm thinking about it, along with Kristy (MA's supposed bff), poor Richard sort of got written off, too after Dawn/Sharon came to town. Aside from Makeover, I don't recall MA and her Dad ever hanging out together. ITA as others have said, Jon Stevenson sounded wonderful. John Ramsey definitely was awesome at times, especially when playing in the grass, or when he told Jessi in the book about the anorexic ballerina that he'd be the "one at Burger King" with the chocolate shake. I think John Pike, was wonderful in I.A.

somebody put mr stevenson on here! i think he was actually a really good dad, not just "better than all the bad dads."
i do think mr ramsey was a good dad though. out of all of the dads we actually saw in the series, he was the one who consistently celebrated his family. he bought a cake when mrs ramsey got a job, and he gets so excited every time jessi lands a lead role. i love how jessi is the only one who calls her dad "daddy." it's so endearing (although it's definitely something that you should eventually grow out of).
