Also Hannie, Linny, David Michael and Karen decide to play Job Agency because Linny saw Lucy and Ethel go to one Haha I remember that! And Karen acts like Lucy, saying over and over, "What kind of jobs do you have open?" lol. (that episode was on TV Land yesterday) Thanks to the BSC, this is now one of my favorite shows. I used to be Lucy-crazy back in 5th grade. I collected everything; dolls, books, tin posters, videos, you name it. I also had a huge crush on Desi Arnaz (Ricky Ricardo) and wrote him love letters even though he was dead lol.

A possible Wizard of OZ reference- Hamilton Barrett. Margaret Hamilton(who was the Wicked Witch)named her son Hamilton. I wonder if that's where the name in the books comes from?

I could be wrong, but I've always assumed that Boo Boo was a reference to Shirley's Boo Boo Kitty on Laverne and Shirley. Given all of the I Love Lucy references, the cat's name being an homage to classic TV seems plausible.

For some reason, I thought Ann wrote that Cam Geary was in Sixteen Candles (but I think really, it was just that he was MA's favorite actor and Sixteen Candles was her fav. movie), but anyway -- when I watched Sixteen Candles, I scanned the credits for Cam Geary and was disappointed when he wasn't in it. I was like, who the heck is this Cam Geary guy???
Now, I happen to love "I Love Lucy", but honestly, I don't know of anyone else who shares my love for it. I have to watch it by myself or go to my parents house to watch it. I don't believe that a bunch of teenage girls AND all the kids of Stoneybrook adore this show and know the eps. by heart. No effin' way.

Synchronizing/coordinating watches.
I never noticed it before, but I read two books yesterday (Jessi and the Troublemaker and The All-New Mallory Pike) that reference it. I know the Baby-sitters at Shadow Lake mentions it, too, and I'm sure I've seen it a few other times recently.
In Jessi and the Troublemaker, Jessi and Becca go shopping with Aunt Cecilia, and they "coordinate watches." They meet up with her after a couple of hours, and decide to shop for another hour, and before they leave, they coordinate their watches again!
I could see maybe setting an alarm to beep or something, but just checking to make sure they all read the same time...? Any watch that loses/gains that much time over the course of a couple of hours probably just needs to be thrown out! =)

They also synchronize their watches a lot in the mysteries.

^ I've noticed that, too. Wonder if Claudia read it in Nancy Drew. ;D Lately I've been reading lots of Halloween books and noticed all of the Wizard of Oz costumes. Never noticed this before so being on this board must bring these things to light. ;D Costumes from the movie are good ideas, though, and my cousins and I did go dressed as the characters when I was five (before I had ever even heard of the BSC ;D) so I guess it's not that rare. Still, you can tell Ann really likes the movie.

I don't know anyone else who shares my love for I Love Lucy either except for my parents. Everyone I know has watched it at least once, but do they love it? Not really. I also don't believe that a bunch of teenage girls and the kids of Stoneybrook love that show and know all of the episodes by heart. That is seriously overdoing it Ann. I could understand if a few of the kids saw the show because they watched it with their parents and wanted to talk about an episode or something but having them all be obsessed with it was a little too much.

I also appreciate it more now and didn't much care for it when I was young. The laugh track gave me a headache and I thought Lucy's voice was annoying

I actually liked it when I was young - I got into it when it ran on Nick at Nite. I got into a lot of old sitcoms that way actually, because I was such a night owl and that was one of the few stations that ran anything vaguely interesting. Mary Tyler Moore, d*ck van d**e, Bewitched, I Dream of Jeannie, All in the Family, Family Ties...the list goes on!
But all of Stoneybrook being obsessed with it seemed really unlikely to say the least.
Edit: Hee, I love how it censored out Mr. van d**e's name.

Ahh poor Mr Van d**e! Haha something that never occurred to me was that MA's father could be called D*ck Spier ;D ;D
EDIT: Omg they won't even let us write his surname either!

^ Never thought of Richard's possible nickname. ;D No wonder Sharon called him "Richie" instead. ;D I never liked I Love Lucy. That kind of humor wasn't my thing - always made me really "nervous" - so the references to it kind of annoy me in the books and always stick out.

This isn't really an obsession since there were only two instances, but...the shortening of the girl's name Jacqueline to "Jacqui." I was unfamiliar with that spelling when I was young so two cases of it in the books kind of stuck out to me...maybe Ann likes that version for females better than "Jackie," or thought the second spelling was only fit for Jackie Rodowsky. There's Jacqui Grant, one of the Bad Girls, and then a woman named Jacqui who helps Stacey get ready for a shoot in Stacey and the Fashion Victim.
