Thanks for the comments everyone- I was really curious as to what other people thought of Meant to Be. I'm currently in love with My Mother's Daughter. I never thought that I could be so into a story about a character who wasn't that involved in the original series, but I really am enjoying it.

Chelz22's fanfic The Way Things Were recently ended. It was my favorite story on the site, so I'm thrilled that she's already begun a new story - Father Figments - set in the same universe. This one is pre- TWTW[/b] and focuses on Kristy and her family. Kristy is a personal favorite of mine, especially as she is written by Chelz. I recommend checking it out. I tried to get back into Meant to Be since I am still getting the new chapter alerts, but all of the contemporary details throw me off too much. Also, I read a part about Mary Anne wearing a Diane von Furstenberg dress and I started seething with envy. Being jealous of a character in preteen fiction books is probably unhealthy.

I read the whole thing last week, and now I'm reading My Mother's Daughter. I'm actually going to follow along with this one as it's posted, instead of waiting until it's finished and reading the whole thing at once. Yay, me.

I haven't really read much BSC fic yet, apart from Viva Las BSC, Blue, and a couple of one-shots. I started reading Meant to Be at about 10:30 last night, and didn't get to bed until well after 3am. (And I like to think that I'm a fairly speedy reader.) Oops! I like it so far, although it's a bit heavy compared to canon. I still wish I could read that Mallory Pike one.  |

Does anyone else hate the Dawn onlylivingboy writes in her stories? For some reason, I always want to punch her character in the neck. I can't explain it, she just grates.

^ one of the reasons I haven't gotten into OLB's new stories. Some characters are so OUT of character it really throws me. Too much of the writer's own voice is in them I guess.

I agree. I read Meant to Be, and I found that while the story was entertaining, the characters weren't really that believeable as aged characters from the series.
It also kind of bothers me that almost all of her chapters end in some sort of cliffhanger. That doesn't strike me as a well developed story.

One of my favorite fanfics right now is The Reality Of The Situation by chelz22. It's about the Pike family. There's not much action and no dialogue, it's more of a character study of each Pike kid following a shocking announcement by Mr. and Mrs. Pike. Each chapter is very insightful and well-written. It's a lot different from the other stories on ffn. Can someone do me a favor? I haven't read too much fanfic and I decided to try some. I have dial up so I can't tie up the phone line for too long. I have spent the last 15 minutes saving Friends, Changes, Together, Alone into Microsoft Word only to have it tell me to check the disk/drive I'm saving it too and then "save the rescued document" and close on me. I was on the 37th chapter and it's all gone!
I was planning on saving several fics. I've heard such great things about these and I would love to read them. If anyone has any of the fics I've listed below, would you mind sending them to me?My email is in my profile. I would greatly appreciate it.

From what I've heard about Mallory Pike: College Girl, the author left the fandom and deleted her fic. I've heard so much about it and I love Mallory, but I've been trying to find a copy of it for ages and can't for the life of me find it anywhere. Even Google's cache fails me. The rest are all up on FFN as far as I know. |
