^That is exactly why I'm grumpy that Stacey was the most popular one. All the little girls wanted to be the perfect pretty princess instead of, for example, the athletic one with good leadership skills.

I liked Kristy when I was little, but now I like Stacey. Claudia would be my favorite if she were literate.

I never liked Stacey, not even when I first started reading the books. I do agree that she was without a doubt the most popular BSC character, though. My favorite has always been Mallory because I love reading about her family, and then Claudia was my second. Mary Anne got on my nerves some of the time, but I liked all of the sitters (minus Stacey!) for the most part.

Stacey was always my favorite when I was a kid. I never saw her as a mean girl or even as a really popular one, just that she had her group of friends and most people outside the BSC seemed to like her.

Stacey definitely is the most popular sitter. I remember in one of the early books where there were results of a poll of the readers favorite sitter. Stacey came in first, followed by Claudia, Dawn, Mary Anne and Kristy. I don't think Jessi and Mallory's votes were shown and Abby wasn't introduced yet. I'm not sure if this was mentioned but the portrait collections were written in terms of popularity. Since Stacey was the most popular, her portrait was written first while Abby was new, hers was the last to be written.

So the popularity order is what? Stacey, Claud, Dawn, MA, Kristy, Abby?

It would be Stacey, Claud, Dawn, Kristy, MA, and Abby. I really don't know what to think about the order of the books and popularity, though. The order seems kind of off for that.

I think it sounds about right.

I thought Mary Anne would be higher up on the list based upon all the really enthusiastic fans she used to have on the board. (Or all those people were one person with 10 different user names which is probably true too.)

I always thought it would be Stacey, Claud, MA, Dawn, Kristy?
That said, as I re-read the books now, I am leaning more toward Claud being my fav to read about. I also like reading Abby and Jessi, oh, and Stacey.
I really find Kristy too over-bearing at times, and MA too passive aggressive, Dawn too preachy (although she used to be my second fav after Stacey). Mal... I feel sorry for. She's a bit of a push over. So my favourite now would be a tie between Stace and Claud.

I like Mary Anne in FF a lot, but not so much in regular BSC.

^ Mary Anne in FF reminds me a lot of how she was at the beginning of the regular series, in her first couple of books. I like that Mary Anne, too!

^That is exactly why I'm grumpy that Stacey was the most popular one. All the little girls wanted to be the perfect pretty princess instead of, for example, the athletic one with good leadership skills. But does she really have good leadership skills? I remember trying to use some of those skills... and everyone called me bossy and mean and quit cheerleading. I STILL want to be Stacey -- she's got the looks, the wardrobe, the attitude, and the brains.

Lol, and not have bickering parents? Although that's pretty much a norm these days.
