I remember Kristy saying it took about half an hour to ride her bike to Claudia's. Not sure exactly how long it would take to drive somewhere that's a half-hour bike ride (don't do much cycling, unfortunately).

Well, it takes about a two minute drive for a ten minute walk... and say cycling is three times faster than walking. So maybe a 6 minute drive?

Here's an interesting thought... maybe Charlie enjoyed driving Kristy to Claudia's because he secretly liked Janine. That would be a storyline twist.

Janine wouldn't choose his butt. She didn't even really want Jerry, a college student. She kept dumping him but he kept on coming back.

He was a bit of a prick, though.

Don't know how long this would take to drive/ride/walk but the same book mentioned that Kristy could ride her bike but her mom didn't want her to do it alone. Another said it would take too long. Inconsistancies.... ;D

^ it was silly that Kristy didn't occasionally have alternate transport means though.

^ not that they ever mentioned. It was always Charlie. I think Nannie and Charlie should've taken turns. Although if Nannie expected to be paid, that's just... not right.

I think when the issue of Kristy first moving across town was that her mum didn't want her to ride home in the dark. It wasn't so much that she'd have to ride home alone, just that it might be dangerous to ride home at night.
In Kristy and Mr Mom, Watson drives her to one meeting! And he makes it sound like a big deal, giving Charlie the day off, so it sounds like Charlie always driving Kristy (and the BSC) around. Just imagine... if the BSC were allowed grow up, they could've driven themselves, and not have Charlie as a chauffeur for ten years!

Hmm. When Shannon filled in for them, did her mom ever drive them? Her mom being bored and all , and not working in Shannon's Story.

I don't think so. Whenever their car trips were mentioned, it was always Charlie as the driver.

Well, I guess he had the time. Did he have many after-school activities? I dunno. I just remembered mainly Sam was in many of them. And since Charlie was going away to college next year and maybe won't see his family, so driving Kristy was his way of grabbing every last opportunity to connect with them. It just seemed like he cared about them because he had been the father-figure after Patrick left. I read that somewhere I forget where though.

In Kristy's portrait, she seems to go around a lot by herself. Like when she was meeting her father, going to the sporting goods store, and even to Mary Anne's house on her bike. So I'm guessing it can't be that far. And also, Kristy and Bart walked home from SES. Stoneybrook is probably pretty small if "across town" is walkable.
