Not sure if this has been said before or not, but in Claudia and Mean Janine (at least, I'm pretty sure that's the book it's in, it's one I read today but I've read about 4 BSC books today - I'm on holiday and just received 12 BSC books, it should have been 13 but something went wrong at the seller's end, grr, but it was only a Jessi book so I'm not too worried. Hopefully they'll post it out to me once they get my email asking about it, but ANYWAY) In Claudia and Mean Janine it says Kristy lives 3 miles from Claudia's house. Í think in kms though, so I have no idea how far that actually is. OK, just converted it (ah, the wonders of the internet) and its 4.8kms for those who think in kms too. So its walkable I guess, but not something you'd want to do three times a week. Ok, that was a very long post to say something very short.

4.8kms? That'd take over an hour!

I think 3 miles is too much to even bike 3x a week! Plus it'd be totally dark outside in the winter. And absolutely freezing.

Wait, so 4.8km... That's about a ten minute drive. So Charlie really only has about ten minutes in between getting back home and having to leave to pick up Kristy from the meeting, assuming he goes home during the meetings. Poor Charlie.

If he goes back and forth like that then that's wasting a lot of gas. In America, we're worried about gas.

This is something I've always wondered about. It would almost be not worth going back home. In which case, what does he do while Kristy's in the meeting? It would make a lot more sense if Charlie just dropped her off and Watson or Elizabeth picked her up on their way home from work. Oh, trust me, it's the Constant Big Issue here, too ... but don't forget, the BSC paid Charlie's expenses - a whole $3 a week! Now that's nothing to be sneezed at ;D

One whole gallon of gas right now in MI. I can't believe these prices. But I guess gas was considerably cheaper then - everything seemed to be. Oh, the "good ole days" ;D

I really, really love the theory that Charlie and Janine were getting it on. But nothing in canon supports that

I love that theory too! It certainly adds a twist. Except I consider Charlie a little beneath Janine (nothing against Charlie).

Oh, the "good ole days" ;D I dunno, I can't ever remember a time my parents didn't complain about it Agree that Charlie seems a little below Janine, but enjoy the theory none the less. However, maybe it could be one of those odd pairings, where Janine finds happiness by lowering her standards and thus discovering what a truly wonderful person Charlie is... I mean, he certainly does a lot for his sister ;D

There's nothing *wrong* with Charlie! He's just not as smart as Janine. But in terms of other qualities that make people people, I don'tthink he's below Janine.

I dunno. One of the books made me think of this. I probably imagined this, but didn't one of the books say that he had old friends from his old neighborhood that he likes to visit? Or that he liked to visit his old neighborhood? So maybe he drops by old friend's houses when he drops Kristy off?

Oh, that's true! He probably would have old friends. Or maybe he runs errands (someone else suggested that, I think), or goes to a park and reads or something.

Oh, I didn't mean that there was anything wrong with Charlie or really even that he was below Janine. I was just joking really - suggesting that Janine might have incredibly high standards like I know I do (though she did go out with Jerry and I can't remember much about him so won't comment on that until I reread some books that talk about their relationship). I just somehow can't picture Charlie and Janine as a couple which is why this is such an intriguing theory.
