I think I would have picked the oldest group. I definitely wouldn't have picked the babies. I hate babies. Whenever I tell people this, they seem to think I'm a bad person. I don't harm babies or anything, I just don't see what there is to like about little creatures that don't do anything except cry and produce smelly substances from every orifice. Hehe, I agree with you. Though they are cute when they smell nice and smile. But I would've wanted a group with kids who could do things, and form coherent sentences.

They changed the first Mrs. Spier's name to Alma for the new #4, and I want to say they fixed something about Amanda Delaney's hair color? Does anyone have old and new copies of Kristy and the Snobs to compare?
It was like they were really gung-ho about sprucing up the whole series at first, with the new pictures on each rereleased cover, but then they realized sales were still dropping, so they just said "screw it" and slapped pictures of fabric on the old manuscripts.

I'm also pretty sure that Hodges Soileau didn't do some of the early original covers...that might have been why some of the pictures were different and most of the later ones weren't.

I think Dawn and the Impossible Three was the first HS cover. The last few mysteries weren't done by HS either.

Ooh, I went to high school with a male Kendall. It was the late 90s, but he wasn't all traumatized by his name or anything. The way baby names are going these days I really think they're all going to be unisex pretty soon.

^ word. I was confused when I read the name Kendall as well. I knew Kristy's Big Day was far too conservative to feature a lesbian couple! ;D (rushed marriage before moving into Watson's, etc)
I don't know about the US, but as far as I know, Kendall for a girl has only become fashionable recently. Maybe in 1986, Kendall was still considered a predominantly male name? It's strange. In the early 1980s, when I was a little kid, the name Jamie was usually considered a male name, whereas now, I'd be reluctant to name a boy Jamie as it's almost always a girl's name these days. Many of the older male Jamies I know now go by "James".

This one had a classic Karen moment. In this one she gets kicked out of the playground for scaring all the other children with the martian stories. Then Dawn is mortified.

I forgot that was in this book. My favorite Karen moment in this book is when she screams at the wedding because she sees Morbidda Destiny. Then she starts babbling about it. Watson puts his hand over his mouth and she bites him. This cracks me up as I have always been a biter too and have bitten my dad several times (some during the last few years ) As always, I love Karen. My favorite thing about this book is how they sit for all of the kids before the wedding. I also enjoy reading about the wedding, itself. I plan to reread this one when I get home from vacation.

I thought her biting him was really bratty, personally. Watson was probably embarrassed at her outburst to begin with; to top it off he had to endure physical pain. I mean, Mrs. Porter was right there in front of them...

I thought Karen's biting was funny and bratty at the same time if thats possible. I always enjoyed this book a lot, I was very amused that Kristy got so excited to wear a dress in the beginning of the book. I loved the line, it was either sam or charlie that said " since when do you care about high heals and dresses", then Kristy replies with " since now!"

I mean, Mrs. Porter was right there in front of them... Agree that it was bratty but I thought it was funny, too, if (like msstock said) that's possible - probably because this is something I would have - and did - do. It just kind of happens when that level of frustration gets too high to bear.... ;D I guess I'm a brat, though, but luckily my dad always forgives me, too. ;D (Though I have been more afraid to bite, pinch, etc him since he had his heart surgery - but that this was only 3 years ago when I was 21 and I still occasionally do these things. I'm awful, I know).

God I hate Karen and the stupid "Morbidda Destiny" thing. she is CONSTANTLY screaming and yelping and gasping RIGHT IN FRONT OF HER! So freaking rude! It makes me want to smack her.
