I agree. He really should have known better. I mean, it was one of his first jobs teaching right? Don't want to ruin his career so soon.

I had a math teacher in high school that would give automatically give girls an A on tests if they would wear miniskirts on the day of the test. Needless to say, he was fired. wait, WHAT? did he actually announce this policy or something?

^ Wow! That is unbelievable. I think Wes could have gotten himself in trouble in today's school system for just being too "nice". Innocent as it all was, teachers like the mini-skirt guy give administrators a reason to be paranoid, I guess (at least at schools around here). It is so strange every time I read this book and see Jessi calling Wes "ancient" at 22 since I'll be 25 in a month. Makes me feel beyond ancient ;D But I do remember when 20 was "really old"....

mcpon- There were 8 girls in the class and all but me and one other girl did that. The teacher was fired after about a month. It was his first and probably only teaching job.

Also in the BSC movie, Kristy calls 17 year old Luca ancient... being 17 myself, this makes me question what 13 year olds think of me ;D

^ Maybe that is what accounts for so many teenage suicides? They don't want to reach a certain eeky age and have to rot out the rest of their lives away.

^ and it's all because of the BSC! also, expecting the age of 13 to be a dreamworld of boyfriends and best friends and expensive vacations and perfect skin and a middle school that's more akin to a college. sigh.

^I think SDS students had the most ridiculously collegiate middle school experience -- I didn't get to choose my classes with nearly as much freedom as Shannon when I was thirteen! Well, it goes both ways...I think 13 year olds are practically babies, rather than mature picnic-lifed people

^ did you go to public or private school? I went to a private school and there were some classes that were required like algebra, physical science and English in 8th grade but the rest were all electives.

I went to public school and our choices were pretty limited. We got the option of like, home-ec and shop or something. My best friend went to a private (Catholic) school and I'm pretty sure they didn't have any choices period. I can barely recall what I took in 8th grade, that was a decade ago!

Am rereading this one and finding it hilarious as always. I did notice for the first time, though, that one of the girls said Sabrina Boviar dated a teacher (and that it was just a rumor). Thought that was interesting as it is the kind of thing that I can see (and have) girls that age (and older ;D) saying.
