I wear pajamas a lot in my apartment, but I'd never wear them outside. Except for this one day about six months ago when I had a really bad cold. I had to go to the drugstore and I was just too tired to bother putting on real pants. Some guy I didn't know made fun of me on the street on my way back 'cause I was wearing pajama bottoms (admittedly, they were hot pink with polar bears on them). What a jerk. I was carrying bags full of Kleenex, Tylenol, cough drops, Neo-Citran, and juice. Why did he think I was still wearing pajamas?

I agree. Even on days when I'm home all day, I have to at least put on jeans and a nice t-shirt. I can't stand going around all day in pj's or sweats unless I'm really sick and stuck in bed. Yeah, I'm the same way. On the days I don't have class and am usually at home, I have to put on jeans and a nice t-shirt or a comfy hoodie because otherwise I'm just going to feel tired or blah. When I'm sick, it's entirely different, but even then I put on a clean pair of PJ's before going to sleep. Why would you go to sleep in the same pair of PJ's you wore all day? And wow, I'm sorry that happened to you wandering . That guy really was a jerk. And I think hot pink flannel pants with polar bears on them sound cute .

He was probably just checking out your ass and didn't know how to get your attention so he said something mean. They never grow up.

This book isn't very realistic. In the middle school and high school I went to, there were special events for seniors, like pajama day, twin day, etc, in which they wear pajamas or whatever for the day and it wasn't for an entire month. It was spread out throughout the year. Also, it wasn't mandatory. Parents wouldn't be called unfit parents if the seniors didn't participate and people didn't act so crazy when any of the students didn't participate.

We used to have School Spirit week. Only 1 week and we would have things like Crazy Hat Day and School Colors Day. If you didn't participate, no one got all crazy and had to hold a press conference lol. Very unrealistic to me. Not to mention this book was extremely boring IMO.

We had a Winter Carnival at my high school. Each class got points for how many students dressed up in theme, so there was a little pressure to dress up. And one class a day was cancelled for the events. We had relay races, volleyball, pie baking, etc. A lot like this event. And the class with the most points at the end "won" Winter Carnival. It was rigged so that the seniors always won, but it was still fun! Sadly, the SMS version does not seem as much fun. We did it to get through the boring winter months, not to rally on a sports team.

At my high school, the cheerleaders were required (by their coach) to participate, but there wasn't really pressure on anyone else. They did have competitions with points and theme days during homecoming week, but there was usually one group that was really into it and everyone else was just kind of meh. (Ours were rigged so the seniors always won, too, toshemeup.) I would usually wear something for red and white day (our school colors) because it was pretty easy, but I didn't do too much else. The competitions (and building the floats) were usually before school, except for a pep rally at the beginning and end of the week.

This is what it was like in my high school too. I remember being a freshman and during spirit week before homecoming I wondered if people were going to go crazy like in this book because I thought things like this actually happened lol ;D. Not to the extreme like in this book but I still thought something would happen haha ;D. Yeah that was what it was like in my high school too when it came time to pick the most school-spirited class. Only exception was when I became a senior and our class lost to a bunch of sophomores lol, story of my life ;D.

We got detention if we refused to participate. If it wasn't a private school, I'm sure someone would have threw a fit and called the press and carried on like in this book. I HATED spirit week; I never liked being forced to to pay money (so some charity/cause of the month) to wear jeans or pajamas to school. It was stupid and pointless and pep rallys were always so stressful.

No, we don't have Target around here. I think I got them from La Senza.

We had pajama day at work a few weeks ago. I participated! It was nice to have a break from dressing up.
I always thought this book was weird. At my school, no one cared if you didn't participate in stuff like that.

I really liked this book (I have re-read it probably about three or four times in total). I have to be honest, the main reason was because there was a lot of fighting and bitchiness in this book, with Dawn receiving several threats, "Go Back to California You Freak!".
I thought this had a strong moral to it, moreso than some of the other books. Even though it was slightly ridiculous and maybe not realistic, it does make sense in f**ked up Stoneybrook.
P.S. - Cindy Sherwood is a biatch!

i really like this book for some reason, even though it really brought out the worst in people. i feel bad for logan, since the team worked so hard and his classmates weren't mature enough to handle spirit month, which was really supposed to be a celebration for the team. but this was a situation where i feel that the school was wrong, and the teachers and adults should have protected the students better. dawn's actions were all justified, if you ask me.
at my high school we always held spirit week the week before homecoming and the week before courtwarming, so it was fun and lighthearted. my senior year was the most fun. one day, each class got to dress like characters from a tv show, and my class got gilligan's island. i glued popsicle sticks to my shirt and said i was the boat :] we never did anything as socially responsible as picking up litter -- it was always days that you could dress up and act silly. if MA had gone to my school, she could have gone to tv show day and dressed like MA from gilligan's island :]

I've always liked this book, but I never understood all the arguing. We had spirit week in high school and it was blast. I don't remember anyone getting upset because other people didn't participate. I'm not sure why SMS students felt they HAD to participate - and why no one ever corrected that. They can't MAKE the kids participate. We received extra credit in some classes if participated. I always really enjoyed spirit week.
I also never understood why people care so much about middle school baseball!
