She should open a store called "Dawn's Denim Duds"

^ She could sell "I'm AWESOME" necklaces there, too!

^But only she is "awesome." (According to Dawn, of course and/or MA if she's not mad at her stepsister). Back in the 80's and early 90's jean jackets were (much more)? popular than they are now so maybe that was part of Dawn's denim look. Didn't one of the Arnold twins end up getting a pink denim skirt during their shopping trip or was it a jacket?

I thought jean jackets were making a comeback? The mid-west is always a few years behind the trends...

^Sparklymouse, I'm a Kristy all the way when it comes to fashion. Except I can't stand turtlenecks. I'm not sure jean jackets ever went out of style just that I thought they were more prominent (certainly on tv) in the 80's and early 90's.

^ Demin did make a comeback and full denim looks are really trendy atm. Just today I was considering getting a light denim button-up collar shirt to wear with tighter, dark denim jeans and boots.

I found it pretty funny that the reporter says to Dawn "I notice that you're not wearing one particular color" because Dawn is, as usual, wearing head-to-toe blue.

^ Yeah, I noticed that too. I always made myself believe that the reporter was saying that Dawn wasn't wearing one particular CLASS colour.

I re-read this last night. Dawn seemed extra obnoxious right off the bat. Chapter 1 was full of remarks about how gross Mary Anne and Richard's diets are, along with remarks about not understanding sports fans and making fun of Mary Anne for being excited about Logan's baseball team. Dawn's always a little obnoxious, but I feel like it was emphasized for this book, perhaps as a way to make her Spirit Month crusade seem more in character.
I thought it was very unrealistic that everyone automatically complied with the "play nice and don't harass people" stipulation when Spirit Month was reinstated.
I liked when Sharon, Dawn and Mary Anne went to a drive-through for sodas and sat in the parking lot drinking them and talking. It reminded me similar scenarios in my childhood with my mom, sister and me.

I think this book ties with "Dawn Saves the Planet" as my least favorite in the series. Weird that they're both Dawn books. Even weirder that two of my favorites are as well ("Ghost at Dawn's House" and "Dawn's Big Date").

I don't get this book. In what universe is "spirit week" mandatory?? When we had it in high school (I think we might have had it middle school too? Maybe?), it was completely optional. The cool kids dressed up, and the insecure/unpopular kids (like me!) were too embarrassed and didn't bother, and nobody cared (except that the ones who didn't dress up were not eligible to win candy at lunch or whatever the teachers gave out to kids who participated). I did dress up when I was a senior in high school, because I was less shy by then and seniors got all the cool themes (we were "Fantasyland" on Disneyland day, and I made a killer Alice in Wonderland costume and carried around a plush white rabbit).

Spirit week was never mandatory when I was in school either. It was optional, so I never understood why they tried to make it mandatory in this book.

I agree, it seems like this was another case of the ghostwriters greatly exaggerating a situation just to create a plot. When I was in school, I think students tended to be much more vocal about how school spirit is lame, rather than "YOU MUST SHOW SCHOOL SPIRIT!"
