I just finished rereading and didn't realize that the BSC assuming the worst about Mallory in terms of Nicky's volleyball accident (that his broken finger was all her fault) was what led to the horribly unfair baby-sitting test. I wish (anyway, poor Nicky) that had not happened and we had been able to read about Mallory (probably) going right out on a job, no test. I also say this because maybe this book would have been all about Mal. Jessi's move to town could have waited. Love how Kristy steps up and says if the BSC ever does encounter a family that has issues with Jessi's skin color, she (K) won't sit for them either. And on a lighter Jamie note, so funny how he pretends to be going after King Corn. I think this was mentioned up-thread but it did appear that Gabbie and Myriah walked over to Jamie's by themselves. All (I think) we know about the Newtons' house is that its either on the corner of Bradford Court or around the corner--possibly the street curves. Not one of my favorite books but was glad to be aware of the extras this time around including Suzi, the vet caring for her sick horse by taping diapers to its legs. What a funny scene that was.

^ That cracks me up. Suzi, putting diapers around legs table. Pretend it was a horse. I didn't like that part, where BSC blame Mallory, for Nicky's broken finger. How can she prevent it? Flied cross the backyard. Let the volleyball hit her body? They made her do all of these tests. She helped out in the earlier books. Just don't make sense at all.

Does anybody think that when Jackie hurt his arm in Kristy's Worst Idea that she would've been as upset about it if they hadn't been so hard on Mallory for Nicky's accident in this book?

I loved the snark Mallory provided on Claudia, like how Claudia didn't know the meaning of oral before the day Mallory came to the meeting and how she corrected Claudia on pronouncing the digestive system (who was also later corrected by Dawn at another meeting). I did feel bad for her during the meeting, since she was set up to fail.
As for Jessi, I did like reading her jokes and I wish it would've continued in other books. She also wore glasses in this book. Too bad it was never mentioned again. But I liked reading about Mallory and Jessi becoming friends.
Also, every time I see the cover, I just want to give Mallory a hug. She just looks so sad.

^ The snark was definitely fantastic.

I finished this last night and wow was the BSC girls bitchy! And my favourite part was when Mallory told them all about soy sauce-Claudia getting stuff wrong. Ha ha.
Mallory is one of my favourites, I can relate to her. I was on her side the whole time during the story.
And Jessi is black *rolls eyes*

The Club members were pretty unreasonable but I though Mallory and Jessi were too for assuming/insisting that sitting for their own siblings made them excellent or even qualified baby-sitters in general, that's a pretty big leap.

That's pretty typical for 11 year olds. It was cute that they jumped up and down, squealing when they got a job for their siblings

I always pictured that if Tiffany wanted to babysit she'd pass their test. That was so silly and kinda pointless. Mal's probably more experienced then any of them.

^ I know, right? It would've been interesting to see Tiffany as a member of the BSC! Though, sometimes, she's ten years old, and other times she's eleven, and we all know that a year difference between those ages are huge (*sarcasm*). It would've been dibble to see Mal or Jessi babysit Tiffany in a book where she's ten anyway, Mallory is the most experienced babysitter, I agree. She was probably raising her brothers and sisters in kindergarten

I thought Tiffany consistently needed a babysitter to watch her in the books so wasn't she 10 throughout? I can't imagine her being portrayed same age as Mallory and Jessi.

^ Tiffany was constantly being changed from being 10 to 11 throughout the series. The complete guide says that she's 11.

I just realized why Jessi didn't get braces! She said she'd get them in a year. So when she's 12. Since the BSC never aged, she never got her braces! I can't believe it took over a decade for me to figure that out. I'm such a Claudia.
