^ Doesn't Carolyn also say that she, too, is not really into cats but she wanted the cat bedroom set because she liked it so much?!

^Carolyn did say that, Virgo. :)I just looked because this got me curious and it is on page 121 (original cover). Not cat (not surprising) stuff for me but it did sound like both twins were super excited and happy about their new rooms and also that they got to finally have another choice at home so that made me happy.

I never got to have my own room as a kid, so I always enjoyed living vicariously through the Arnolds and their decorating fun!

I didn't have my own room when I was young (I did later as a teen) and all our stuff was kind of mismatched, so I envied the cohesive theme Carolyn had!

I had my own room (which was like a sewing room, it was so small). I remember being young and wanting a Mikey Mouse bedroom with BLACK CARPET and black walls with MM bedding and accessories and such. Good thing my Nana talked me out of it. That actually would probably look really depressing. What was I thinking!? haha

^I had Mickey Mouse sheets on both of my bunk beds for a few years. All I remember about my very early rooms were that the walls were painted light pink (my favorite color) and that I sure did have a lot of stuffed animals. I also had other collections all over such as erasers, matchbox cars, and figurines such as from Sesame Street. There used to be a kids' version of Trading Spaces on TLC. When the kids who participated actually switched rooms with other kids and re-did rooms for them, it was fun to see what they would come up with. I did enjoy how Stacey made up the guest room for Charlotte in the Mystery of Stoneybrook but hated how Dawn and MA destroyed Jeff's room in "Stacey and the Bad Girls." I did like though how Adam, Byron, and Jordan helped Jeff decorate his new room, I think in one of the BSC Friends Forever books, I don't remember which. I rarely read those books (prefer not to think of them or consider them as part of Stoneybrook canon, at least in my heart). My point to sharing this is I can see how the BSC, maybe with help from some of the charges might go into the kids' room decorating as a temporary business.

lol, count me in as another one who loved reading about the twins getting to decorate their rooms. When I was little, I spent a RIDICULOUS amount of time looking at the bedroom sets in the back of a JC Penney catalog we had - like, I seriously held onto that thing for years, like it was a well-loved toy. I would look at it over and over and over and fantasize over having those rooms. When I was about 10 or 11, I even tried to give my room a cat theme, which is kinda weird because I was always a dog person. Looking back on it now, I wonder if it had to do with this book?!?

I saved up my babysitting money for ages to order a comforter out of the JC Penney catalog, so if you're weird, I was too! It was reversible and my mom always told me I should put it on my bed with the other side up but I was like no way, I'm the one who spent hours babysitting to buy this. Mine was blue and white, like Stacey's room (remember when she moved back to Stoneybrook and told Claudia to help decorate her room and Claud was like "What colors?" and Stacey said blue and white and Claudia pointed out that her stuff is already blue and white and Stacey said "But I want different blue and white stuff!")
I've always been a cat person but Carolyn's room always seemed a little over the top to me. But the trash can with cat ears still sounds really cute.

I used to read the JC Penney catalogs too! I was fascinated by everything. Like, I would study the bathroom shower curtains and towels. Who knew that was such a source of entertainment for kids, lol.
I can understand that mentality. I'd never thought twice about owls until they popped up everywhere and then I kinda sorta wanted an owl something.
Virgo, no offense, but your dream bedrooms sounds hilarious.

I also loved the JCPenney catalogs. Whenever we'd get one I'd look at it over and over. Glad to know I'm in good company!

Which company was it that had the Wish Book catalog? Was it Sears? That one was always big in my family.

Sears Wish Book...it sounded familar to me too, so I googled and found a website with a bunch of the old Christmas catalogs from Sears and other stores. Of course I went straight to the ones from the 80's to browse. www.wishbookweb.com/

I just read this one and found it funny how Mary Anne was mentally keeping track of all Sharon and her cat’s interactions. I can understand Mary Anne’s concern but poor Sharon…
