Ew gross to the underwear thing. And I think that would turn Logan off as he seems to have liked MA in the first place because she seemed to be "more of a challenge" than, um, Stacey or Claudia.

^ he was a 13 yr old boy remember, although admittedly seemed to be lacking testosterone (not a bad thing!)

Man, if he wasn't into sports, he would totally be a constant punching bag.

Maybe that's why he was involved in so many sports... to make up for his soft and sensitive side.

I think Ann just wanted to make him the "perfect" boyfriend - popular, goodlooking, cool, sweet, sensitive, blah blah blah. And she probably figured that in order for 13 yr old boys to be popular and cool, they generally have to be the "jock" type.

Yeah that sucks, considering how the "jock" types are always found pumping gas for the "nerd" types when they grow up.

Logan had everything, didn't he? He was athletic, nice, and smart! At least, I'm pretty sure that it was implied that he got good grades.

He did have everything in order to make him well-rounded. What I was saying is that usually jock types aren't nerds, and it seems weird that Ann has to make Logan a jock. Why can't she have made him a academic decathlete/mathlete/etc. I think that would have made him just as impressive as being a multi-sported person.

But I suppose nerds aren't usually thought of as being hot or looking like Cam Geary... They're more of the high-waist trousers, glasses, pimply nerds with no social skills.

Why couldn't she break the stereotype? I dunno.

She tries to (and is fairly successful, I think) in Stacey and the Math Whiz. But I guess when Logan was first introduced, he had to be hot, and nerds don't typically fit into the hot stereotype.

True. I guess she breaks the stereotype that hot guys only go for hot girls.
Yeah, I agree that she breaks the stereotype with Stacey.

There are these occasional insanely "perfect" people who seem to have it all - good looks, good grades, good at sports, etc - however, they're usually impossible to take, particularly as teenagers. Logan however, still seemed like an awesome guy, completely unaware of the great hand he'd been dealt. Ordinarily, a guy of his caliber could - and would - do much better than quiet, shy, plain Mary Anne Spier. That's just the way things go as 13 yr olds. Ann gave many an awkward teen false expectations. Kind of like the high school reality certainly shattered my Sweet Valley High fantasy. Sigh.
