^I agreed with you on that. The story is more about the Babysitters Agency, than Stacey's diabetes.

No doubt Stacey's parents were irrationally, irritatingly overprotective and unbelievably naive trusting some "miracle doctor" someone had seen on TV. A bit ironic considering that in Stacey and the Bad Girls, Mrs. McGill says something along the lines of "I thought I raised you to be smarter than that. I mean, you did grow up in New York." Of course it was necessary for the plot and everything, but seeking out holistic healthcare seems more like something Dawn's mother would do. Still, they honestly wanted what was best for Stacey, and it's a good thing Dr. Johanssen and Dr. Graham were able to recognize that and help them see reason. Did anyone here follow the Justina Pelletier case, or any other case where the parents were accused of "over-medicalizing" and "medical child abuse"? In comparison to all that, everyone in the BSC universe seems perfectly sane and sensible.
On the other hand, it seems like Stacey's parents completely brushed off what had happened with Laine. Again, obviously necessary to the plot, but come on. They spend months hovering over their daughter, panicking about her diabetes, and it never occurs to either of them that some of her problems might stem from her best friend suddenly turning everyone at school against her?

Especially since they were friends with Laine's parents, too.

How aware were the McGills when it came to Stacey's friend problems? Maybe they were so wrapped up in her diabetes issues that they couldn't see what was going on.

They did force Laine and Stacey to spend time together in the Truth About Stacey. I doubt Stacey opened up to her parents, since it's BSC.

I kind of remember Maureen knowing Stacey and Laine had had some kind of fight but seemed to think things would be patched up quickly. I think that was when they announced they'd be staying at the Cummings' and Stacey got upset about it.

Parents can be strange about their children's friendships...and it doesn't always end when you grow up! There's a girl I knew growing up with whom I was not friends, but didn't dislike either- just not friends and wouldn't be. Her mother (a friend of my mom's ) still thinks Amanda and I are or ought to be friends. I can be perfectly pleasant but not friends with her!

That would make sense. I always pictured them as big shoe boxes. In my mind, they always had to have a lid.

Those boxes are what I imagined when reading about them. I remember the subplot being my favorite though.

Me too. I would put my favorite books and toys in it, and keep it under my bed, since I was no baby-sitter...lol

I always imagine the kids kit looks like a gift box. Like you put clothes in, for a Christmas present.

I'd never considered a shoebox, because it's too small to be impressive or contain much, whereas as filing box, like I said, can carry more and bigger stuff. If I were a kid, a babysitter arriving with a filing box of "toys and goodies" would impress me more than a little old shoebox.
