It's uncovered in the middle of the store and she's huffing and puffing all over it.

One could think Stacey's the owner of the store and she brought Charlotte to try the various baked foods.

I need a spreadsheet to remember what I've posted. I don't like how this kid is staring into my soul.

If I were at such a bakery, I would be staring at the cake the way Stacey is.

Some of the book titles translated into English:
The Secret Problem of the Stacey Stacey never loses (?) Out and about with Petra Susan's Secret Sophie's problem Sophie's secret Lucy’s Secret Daisy's Secret Stacey defends the club Stacey's secret Sarah's Secret Stacey’s secret problem
They agree that she has a secret that is a problem.

My goodness there are a lot of covers for the early books. She has a thick head of hair. Zippered ankles. Didn't like them then, don't like them now.

Stacey looks like Mallory. That is all.

Orange cover: that’s how my Barbies looked when I chopped their hair off.

The Czech translation on the white book says "Stacey never loses" but she definitely looks bummed out.
I love the ankle zippers on the Italian cover.

Wow. Growing up, I really liked Mrs. McGill because her closeness with Stacey reminded me of how close I am with my mom. Either I was WAY off or she changes a lot later in the series. Both parents are so annoying in this book. I would hate to be Stacey. I'm weirded out that they are so naive to think that type 1 diabetes can be cured. So they drag her left and right to every doctor they can find, even making her miss days of school. Wtf.
I forgot how they make staying out late such a big deal in the early books. And maybe it's just me, but I don't think Mr. Spier's curfew is unfair for a 12 year old? I did have a 9 o clock bedtime even through high school, so maybe that's why it didn't seem too strict to me. He is way too strict about almost everything else, though.
I liked that Stacey and Kristy kind of bonded in this book. It's subtle, but I thought it was cool that Stacey cared so much about the club that she'd even take Kristy's terrible suggestions of lower rates and housework. Interesting dynamic.
Is it realistic that kids would get as attached to babysitters as they did in this book? I really don't know, because as a kid I didn't have them aside from family and I never babysat either.

Same here. But I think it’s almost like a nanny relationship? They babysat them so often it’s kinda similar.

Mr. Spier's curfew seems pretty reasonable and realistic for most people of that age, so I can see where he's coming from. I also had a 9 o clock bedtime (in middle school though) so I can relate to that.

These two are at opposite ends of every spectrum, so it's cool to see them agreeing. On the same token, Mary Anne and Claudia both thought Kristy was being too extreme, and I liked seeing them taking the opposite stance together. Two underrated relationships got to shine in this book. I don't think Mr. Spier's curfew is unfair for a 12 year old? Also agree. 9pm is after sunset, and considering Mary Anne didn't have a phone and couldn't be reached at all times, that actually seems generous. I think Ann created all these rules to make him seem strict, but didn't realize how inconsistent they were.
