I read this for Valentine's Day last night and thought I would share something you all may find interesting.
Laine's vacation is from Sat, Feb 7 to Sun, Feb 15. Valentine's Day falls on a Saturday and the dance is Friday the 13th. Those exact same dates fall on the dame days this year (2015). So it was fun to read about the Friday the 13th dance on Friday the 13th!

^ Is this the book where the girls are worried about bad things happening at the dance because it's one Friday the 13th, or am I mixing it up with another of the many dances that they attended?

I remember that now (about the dance being Friday the 13th). They were all talking about bad omens at a meeting - wasn't this the book with the infamous Ben/Mallory card catalog fight? I always loved the part where Laine is unknowingly dancing with a seventh-grader and Kristy wonders if Laine thinks seventh-graders have enough muscle control

^ I loved that joke as well....and it's still funny after all these years! Yes, I'm pretty sure that this is the card catalog book. Card catalogs have NOT stood the test of time.

I just reread this one and, aww. I will forever be dissapointed that Stacey and Laine broke off their friendship. Laine used to be so cool and now, who is Stacey going to hang out woth when in NY? Wasn't Laine her only friend there at this point? What a pity, also, that they couldn't work things out. I think Laine was quite obvious about not wanting to spend her break in Stoneybrook, and why would she? Stacey was still in school after all. I don't know why she agreed. And to even go to school with her one day! Never in a million years. But, she knew that coming out, she might have made a different choice in spite of Stacey's pressure on her. By the way, why couldn't Laine go to the dance solo? All that being said I love the drama it was a bit over the top but come on, King is a fab character and we have all been through growing apart from our friends in our teens over reasons like this (I'm guessing). But I can't help remembering a discussion we had about this ages and ages ago -might havd even been on the old boards - about how it seemed like the BSC girls were not allowed outside friends (only boyfriends) and Laine was the last one so she had to go... The plot about the kids valentines day party was cute, but what was up with the Pike boy (sorry guys my books are translated and I don't always know the English names of chavalentinesixing up the names of the twins? Come on dude myou have to know the name of the one you like, especially when dealing with twins. The girls made such a big deal about having their own personality (rightly) ;I was surprised they didn't care.

I didn't like this book. I can't stand Laine. I reread this book, since I haven't read it a long time. Who name's their son, King? It must be his nickname. On the front cover, Laine looks like she's in her 20's instead of 13. She had attitude at Mrs. McGill. When Mrs. McGill, told her, she shouldn't grow up so fast.

King is a pretty normal name these days!

What the heck King's parents were thinking when they named him "King"?

King is his last name. Clarence is his first name. He goes by King since he's embarrassed by his first name. It's explained in one of the Logan books.

Wait, Laine's boyfriend wasn't named Clarence King, was he? He lived in Stoneybrook.

Maybe it's like Sabrina Bouvier. Clarence King might be a common name like Mike Smith in the BSC universe.

I wish that Laine and her beloved King would have gotten their own spinoff series. I want to read more of the spoiled and shallow antics.

Maybe it's like Sabrina Bouvier. Clarence King might be a common name like Mike Smith in the BSC universe. It sounded to me like King was his first name. Obviously that would be stupid, but he wasn't given another name, to my knowledge. Of course, maybe we would've found out if Laine and Stacey had stayed friends.
