Well whatever it was called it was used because the teachers were only allotted a certain number of "good" expensive copies. I'm sure Elizabeth's place of work appreciated paying for crap. Once you own the machine, why would it be so expensive? Ink?

I've lost a cat before so I could really sympathize with Mary Anne. Some consistencies I noticed in this book: Jamie is very giving. He mentions to Mary Anne that for Tigger's reward money he could buy many toy cars but he would rather use it to bring Tigger back. I just came off reading Mother's Day Surprise and he really wants to buy a green balloon for Lucy in that one. Also, Mary Anne mentions to the BSC that she remembered to keep the envelope of the ransom note, unlike what she does in Bad Luck Mystery. The BSC members smile knowingly. I like how Ann adds that in without going into anymore detail.

Didn't Kerry know that Tigger was Mary Anne's cat?? I don't understand why she'd hide a kitten in her room. I mean, shouldn't she have just told her parents? I mean, in the long run, it would have been a lot better. That whole book bugged me. As for the kid wanting ransom money- he needed help. I guess he's one of those people who want to capitalize on someone's misfortunes. She did know eventually but decided to keep the cat because she thought she could take care of him better. I wasn't too fond of this one either, I read it last night and Logan was a big jerk and Kerry got off way to lightly. I would have grounded her for a couple of weeks

I reread this book. It was okay. The boy was weird, asking for fast money. Kerry, should know that her younger brother Henry, is so allergic to everything.

Eh. Not one of my favorites personally. I do understand and emphathize with MA about losing her kitten (who was a kitten for over 200 books, poor tiggy poo). My dog had gone missing for two days years ago and he ended up being hit by a car and got injured badly, which was scary. However, Kerry was a brat when she catnapped tigger. She didn't even get into THAT much trouble. Poor Hunter and his allergies. sometimes when I read about him it's hard to understand his dialogue. The kid who was desperate for fast money made me mad. I liked it when the BSC gang fought against him. Though I was slightly surprised they'd do that to a little kid...then there's Betsy Sobak (sp?). They should've given Kerry a lesson IMO. The fight with MA and Logan was blah. I kinda wished Logan DID know about tigger. That'd be a plot twist. The story was soooo predictable. Even an 8 year old can figure out what happens.

^ Is your dog okay? That's awful. A couple years ago, my auntie's dog ran away and we haven't figured out what happened. She was a pure bred husky so I'm sure somebody found her and decided to keep her, but the hardest part is not knowing. Getting hit by a car is worse for sure, but in this case the dog just vanished and that's hard. I'm sure that's how Mary Anne felt also.

My dog ended up breaking his hind leg and tore up the flesh inside his bottom (gross, I know). He was pretty much healed in about three or four months, though. That happened like seven years ago and we don't have him anymore. It was scary for sure. However, not knowing wherever your dog went and what happened to her must be frightening too! About three years ago my grandparents' Saint Bernard disappeared suddenly and they never found her. She was old, though, about 12 or 13, so wherever she went, she's probably not alive anymore. My grandparents had three other dogs and two cats, and she was way too grumpy (think grumpy dog, like grumpy cat). She probably escaped purposely.

Ann did a major copout with Logan in this book. IMO, it would have made more sense if Logan aided and abetted Kerry in her catnapping. It doesn't make sense a ten year old girl keeping a kitten in her closet without anyone finding out, so it would make more sense if she gotten help in that department. Why not her older brother, Logan?
Logan being an not a very nice person to Mary Anne would make more sense in that situation because he is angry that she is investigating Tigger's disappearance and that she will be zeroing in on himself and Kerry.
Logan betraying Mary Anne like that will put an extra dimension on their relation, not in a good way, of course. It's another opportunity lost! This would make this book more entertaining that's for sure.

I think this is the first book that Logan became a jerk all of a sudden. Which could've possibly been foreshadowing for MA vs. Logan?

^ I honestly believe Logan's behavior in this book was strictly to provide some tension down the road. They needed some believable reason why he and MA broke up, so they had to manufacture conflict. It doesn't bother me though, because Logan was fairly one-dimensional before this (he was such a nice guy!) and this book establishes him as having interests and concerns outside Mary Anne.

I always wondered rather Mary Anne should have dumped Logan in this book? After all, he was acting like a complete jerk for most of the book and I have a conspiracy theory that he was covering for Kerry and he didn't want Mary Anne to find out.

I feel like Logan had two personalities and you never knew which you were going to get at the beginning of the book. Conspiracy theory: he had an evil twin Shmogan.

This is probably not going to be the most popular comment, but when I re-read this again recently I really saw more of Logan's perspective. I don't think he's given as much credit. He is, after all, just a 13-year-old boy. I didn't really realize just how much stress *he* might be under too. With the stresses from sports and the coach, feeling like he has to live up to expectations of everyone to be a good athlete, has to deal with Mary Anne's stress about Tigger and home stress with Kerry and Hunter's allergies and what-not. I can see how he might be a bit detached whereas I didn't really pick up on it before. Plus, maybe Mary Anne's winging would get annoying after awhile (even though I like her). He was just as focused on his own problems as Mary Anne was on her own. She didn't even ask him how he was doing after Dawn told her he hadn't been doing well in baseball. Nor did she ask him what was going on when he was a little distracted at the beginning of the book, before Tigger disappeared. Of course, he made some comments he shouldn't have but he did admit his wrong at the end. So I don't see how he's the bad guy in this book when they're both 13 year olds who don't really know how to communicate with each other all the time. Anyway, despite me being a total cat person, I didn't particularly like this one. The best moments were the ones with the BSC supporting and coming around Mary Anne in her time of distress. I also liked the bits with Richard and Mary Anne starting to realize why her dad was so protective of her earlier in the series, like she was with Tigger.
