I don't remember the surprise party. Haven't read this book in long time since I was in my pre-teen/teenager.
A other book to re-read.
I'm shy person. But, I wouldn't run away from my own surprise party. I will be shock, someone throw me a surprise party.

I really liked how Mary Anne told the things she had ready for eighth grade (like her binder and a photo of Cam Geary) and her first day of school since the first day of school can be exciting due to having a different schedule than last years, new teachers, etc. When Mary Anne and Logan went to the animal shelter, two of the kittens were red and for some reason, I can't imagine there being a red cat. Maybe I just don't have the imagination. As for the surprise party, while I don't think Mary Anne should've run out of her surprise party, I wasn't bothered by her doing so. I can understand why she did it since it was the first thing that came to mind and she couldn't think straight and figure out that she could at least just say "Thank you". Sometimes, people just run out of their surprise parties even if it'll embarrass them even more doing so. I did like reading about the presents that Mary Anne received. As for Dawn rinsing her mouth after eating the cake, . I thought that it was unnecessary. I don't think her teeth would've been ruined if she didn't rinse her teeth just this once. On which cover? I have the new cover and I think Mary Anne, Logan and Jackie look nice on it.

I looked at some pictures of the old cover of Logan Likes Mary Anne and it looks pretty much the same as the new cover Logan Likes Mary Anne with the only exception being that the curtains in the new cover being lighter than in the old cover. So it's probably some other cover.

I enjoyed this book a lot and read t about 15 times: 4 in French and 11 in English. I really like the outfit Mary Anne is wearing on the cover.

I wonder if Dawn is showing signs of OCD with that mouth rinsing crap....

^ I actually started doing that recently (rinsing my mouth) when I've eaten something really late at night and have already brushed my teeth really well before bed (and am too lazy to do it again). Do you think it even works? I guess it's better than not doing it at all.

I always had to rinse to get stuff out of my braces. Mr. Coke Addict, you should rinse after you drink a can. Although unless you're chugging the thing, you'd technically have to rinse after about every sip to make a difference.

I've become fairly vigilant about brushing/rinsing. I am blessed to have good teeth and especially with my jaw issues, need to keep them that way. (I don't need any extra dental issues). In this case, who cares about Dawn rinsing her mouth? Good for her (sincerely) for doing so but "we" didn't need to be told. It's sort of like when she ate the marshmallows in Claudia and the New Girl. In that case, I always felt Dawn seemed to genuinely enjoy the treat. Yet two seconds later she was all about her teeth rotting. The only time she ever admitted to liking sugar was when she ate some Ben and Jerry's at the end of "Undercover Baby-sitter." IDK, it's almost similar to the whole "he/she" of the BSC books. Better to show than tell.

I found it really sad when kristie had dawn over and said she felt like she had moved away from everyone and now MA was moving away from her. For some reason, that stuck with me this time around.

^ i always love seeing kristy and dawn together. i like that they aren't crazy about each other and their relationship only exists because of MA. the girls love to say "everyone in the whole club is a fantastic friend!" but this relationship actually wasn't automatic and over the top.

I have just started this one and Wiggirl, I think you were really right on about "replacements being better than the original." I DID realize (#9) it was Dawn not MA who said that about the Perkins. MA said (after her first sitting job) that she was no longer sad about Kristy not living there anymore, so I guess in a way she was seconding Dawn.
This book on page 3 flat out says "Dawn Schafer is my new best friend." MA mentioned the others in the club as being "good friends." I will say one thing, at least in this instance MA was being honest. Maybe it's just me and how badly I felt for Kristy but I would prefer reading the above sentence to "Kristy is one of my best friends, Dawn is my other (or newest) one."
Oldhickory. that's what I liked about Stacey and Kristy. I think (early on) Stacey admired and genuinely liked Kristy. I could have seen the two of them becoming closer, especially after "The Mystery at Stoneybrook." Kristy and Claudia, although they "grew up together" and did have a few nice moments when it was just the two of them at a meeting that had yet to started, never really went too far.

I was looking at some of my non-BSC books that have the order forms in back for other book series. I spotted this so I took a picture for you all. Click the picture to make it bigger. It says that the title of #10 was going to be "Mary Anne Goes Steady." I'm not sure if we've already discovered that elsewhere, since it wasn't mentioned in this thread. Just a cool find.

^That is cool and unbeknownst to whoever printed that, turned out (sort of ) true. Thanks for sharing that. I noticed that "Kristy and the Snobs" was "Kristy Meets the Snobs." I like that title much better just because it sounds (to me anyway) like "the snobs" would have been much more of the story and (I can always wish) had left no room for the horrible Louie tail. :/ ETA: Wow. You inspired me to check out the back of a Sleepover Friends books. #43 (Stacey's Emergency) says "Stacey's Revenge." I wonder what that was going to be about?!
