I was dreading reading this book because I remember hating it as a kid (too sports focused) - but it actually was quite good! I really liked the Krushers team spirit, but the best part was Kristy's relationship was Watson. He was really a very decent guy in this book, despite his cheesy cliches ;D
Personally I think the title was not accurate though, the book didn't really focus on Jackie all that much.
Also, what was the reasoning behind Bart's Bashers? Why couldn't those kids have just joined Little League? And who would they have played before the Krushers were formed?

I remembered how the Krashers (Bashers + Krushers) went out of town to play a team, so I guess the Bashers could have played them before the Krushers were formed, or scrimmaged.
And yeah, the title was inaccurate because it only has Jackie on it when the book was about the entire team.
And for once it wasn't a great idea from the idea machine; she copied. Lol.

Heehee, mcpon, good point about the idea machine!
I actually really liked this book. I liked seeing the interaction with the BSCers and the charges (the link between them got gradually weaker as the series progressed). And Kristy's first crush! Aww.

And she went out of her way to try to catch his attention. Oooh.

That was so cute! I liked seeing Kristy be girly.

Me too! Kristy and Bart were the only reason I got through this book, as sports don't really interest me.

I really liked the Krushers team spirit, but the best part was Kristy's relationship was Watson. He was really a very decent guy in this book, despite his cheesy cliches ;D I was going to start this thread the other day and say this exact same thing but didn't get time. This is one book that really made me like Watson. I especially enjoyed the end (I think it was in this one) where Kristy thinks about giving him a hug when she is so excited about Bart. I think it's nice that Kristy has a "father figure" since her own is such a deadbeat jerk. Also agree about the Bashers. It always seemed kind of weird to me, though as a kid I was fascinated with the ideas of these teams and even tried to form one myself. Of course, it didn't work too well since I couldn't get any players One other thing I noticed in this book was that Shea was kind of mean to Jackie. This was uncharacteristic for him. I'm not really into sports but I still liked this book.

Yeah, it's a sad dose of reality for the poor child who is inspired to copy Kristy's "great ideas".
The Krushers would be lucky to survive a week. And the BSC itself probably would only receive phone calls from the member's parents (think Jessi and Mallory's Kids' Incorporated club ;D ) humoring their idealistic daughters. Not to mention all those carnivals, festivals, parties, art shows, plays etc really wouldn't be so amazingly successful, they'd be likely to recieve practically no attention and the girls would feel a bit let down and disappointed.

We were discussing this somewhere else (but god knows where, since we're always going off-topic ) Totally agree. (a conversation from last week) Me: Can we start a baby-sitters club? Boyfriend: But you don't like kids. And neither do I. Me: But I want to be in a club! And be the president. Boyfriend: Too bad.

I always wondered why the Bashers existed, too! Sometimes Kristy will say something about how "most of the Bashers could be on Little League if they wanted", and it's like -- then why weren't they?

Why would they when they can beat up on 2 to 7 year olds?

Maybe Bart was cheaper, or more fun, or they started out with him and then didn't want to leave.

I think the only reason the Krushers/Bashers worked is because they were in such a small town. Everybody seemed to know everybody and Kristy was already close with a lot of the kids, so it wasn't difficult. Plus, she saw a need and filled it.
But seriously the Bashers just need to join Little League.

But then the Krushers wouldn't have anyone to play against!
