I love baking cookies from scratch. I still eat some dough in between batches, I can't help it. It's good!
I remember when eating raw cookie dough was all the rage. That and eating uncooked Mr. Noodles. I haven't done that in years, but it doesn't sound that appealing to me anymore.

Mr Noodles! That explains it a bit better than I can at the moment. Instant noodle soup, they're not fabulous but do in a pinch. When I was a kid, we used to eat the noodles raw - sounds gross, but we loved it. I didn't know Mr. Noodles was Canadian! I feel...proud? lol

Yeah, I don't know why I didn't just say that in the first place. Oh well! ;D
I always liked the start of the book, when Claud's getting all mad at Gertrude for baking her cookies. I could always sympathise with that. I hate math - always have - and used to have similar thoughts when I was doing word problems like that. I love how Claudia's like "Suddenly I hated Gertrude. Why did she have to bake cookies? And why does she want to measure chocolate, I would just dump it all in at once..." That was definitely me whenever I had to do math homework.

^ That part always made me laugh, too. ;D Don't hate math but it's not my favorite subject, either.

i like math, because there is always an answer. None of this objective grading crap that occasionally screws me over when I get a teacher that hates me. But I always tested lower in math then in other subjects.

I don't like math, so I could relate to Claudia in this book. I think part of me not doing well in math was just because I didn't try hard enough, also like Claudia. Fortunately for me, though, I didn't carry over the "not trying" into all my other school subjects like Claudia did.

I did sort of feel sorry for Claudia in this book but at times I did want to throttle her.
The thing that annoyed me about this book was when they were like: 8th grade is going to be sooo much harder than 7th grade! As if it's the first time.
Shut up! You've already been IN the 8th grade. If it's the first time, then why aren't Abby and Mary Anne, 12 yrs old?

i go back and forth on math. i was always bad in it, but i think i convinced myself that i was bad in it because i found it intrisically less valuable than writing and reading.

For them to make it so obvious with the "we're starting eighth grade, you guys, yay!" stuff, I thought it was really kind of insulting to us long-time readers when it came out.

Were there any books between 10 and 100 which made a big deal about september being the first month of school? I recall August books, which mentioned that school would start soon, but I can't think of any other september books.
