Yeah, macca, I know! The shopping and the food are always the highlights. Never mind the baby-sitting

Anytime the BSC hit up the mall, it's bound to be good. They buy the weirdest things and the mall has an omg pink fountain. But why why why do they always eat Mexican food at the mall!? I hate Mexican food so I'm always bummed when they go for moutains of burritos and guacamole.

There's definitely a lack of good old fashioned cheeseburgers and fries with these girls!

They go to Friendly's when they go to the mall in this one, don't they? Stacey adds up theie change and says they can have lunch if no one goes too wild. It was Mal and Jessi with the unhealthy obsession with Mexican, hehe.

I actually enjoyed this book, although Abby has a weird view on twins though. I liked Anna in this book.
And they try to get the kids involved but they wanted to play in the snow.(although I don't blame them, who would want to anyway?)

Ugh, those terrible, terrible clothes Abby insists on picking for Anna. It just made me think "Oh, Abby..." So totally not Anna at all and I really figured she might be intuitive enough not to buy them, but alas. Her intentions were good. The random pairing of Stacey and Abby is funny. They sounded really fed up with each other. Abby cutting her hair was really sweet though. I so wanted to try the awesome hot chocolate from Just Desserts after reading this! That hot chocolate sounded delicious. Surprisingly I wasn't as annoyed by their winter carnival as I thought I'd be...the drawing in the snow sounded fun.

It was pretty dumb of Abby not to realize she was buying clothes for Anna that she liked, but that Anna wouldn't like at all. I can easily picture Karen doing something like that (because Karen (a) is seven and (b) thinks she is the centre of the universe), but it's hard to picture a thirteen-year-old being so clueless.

Abby was pretty clueless in this one. She seems to be in a lot of books, though, almost as bad as Claudia. Not saying that scoliosis isn't a big deal (glad I never had to wear a brace for mine - it sounds awful) but it almost seems like this book made it into a really big issue or at least Abby did. It almost would make kids terrified of having it. I know Abby was just trying to help Anna but I felt bad for Anna (Alan too when Abby went totally off on him) I liked the winter carnival, though the snow shoveling was somewhat annoying to read about. Wasn't this used already in a LS plot? One of my least favorite LS books, too. I did enjoy the Barrett-Dewitt chapter when they "make Stacey" as the snow sculpture. Nice to see that family getting along.

Normally, when characters are as overbearing as Abby is in this book, it bothers me. I didn't mind it in this case, though. That's not to say I liked Abby's behavior; I just understood it and her reasons for trying to support Anna the way she was.

^ Agree that Abby meant well. Maybe that's why she didn't bother me terribly but just kind of made me roll my eyes. She tends to take things to extremes without meaning to. I did feel for her as well as for Anna because I think Abby felt pretty helpless.

This one reminds me of how I was kind of scared about wearing a brace when I was diagnosed with scoliosis. Fortunately, mine was only mild like Abby’s and I could treat it the same way. I had the same fears, though, of the brace interfering with my sports (riding my horse, in my case) and was so relieved when I didn’t need something extreme done. I wish this book would have been published at that time because it might have helped me deal with my fears. I really felt for Anna, too. I know it’s just Abby’s personality to go overboard and be very gung-ho about everything but it must be hard to live with. I did really like her shopping trip with Stacey and how Stacey tried to steer her in the right direction with the clothes. I also enjoyed the winter festival a lot this time when I reread it.

I have scoliosis (like you aln) and had to wear a brace for two and a half years, from when I was 11 and a half to when I turned 14. There is still a chance that they'll do me a surgery, since the curve in my spine has gotten bigger after I was allowed to not to wear the brace. I've never read this book, but even knowing that this existed made me feel a lot better when I was wearing my brace. It's amazing how the fact that someone else - even if it's a fictional character - is dealing with the same problems than me. And sotypical is right - everytime they hit the mall, it IS good. The shopping trips in BSC are always highlights. Mexican food obsession? I totally can understand why they love Mexican food - I myself prefer burritos and guacamole to fries and cheeseburgers any day.

Aln, I am glad this book seemed to help you cope a little better with scoliosis. Also am glad that yours was mild. chicchai, I am glad you are comforted to know that there are other people out there who deal with the same things. I agree the mall trips sound like so much fun! I also enjoy Mexican food a lot!

I really felt for Anna, too. I know it’s just Abby’s personality to go overboard and be very gung-ho about everything but it must be hard to live with. Yeah. Like when she was watching some orchestra on TV and Abby was like "OMG sad depressing boring slow" and wanted to turn it off.
