I like the idea of her being a math teacher because she's good at math and likes kids. I picture her being in New York teaching at a fancy private school like the one she attended. That way she can also stay surrounded by all the glamour of NYC. I can't picture her staying someplace like Stoneybrook for her career. I have a hard time seeing Stacey doing something with so little money. She is VERY ambitious in that sense, as we learned from Stacey McGill, Super Sitter. I see her in finance. She could be like my dad, who also really likes kids and considered teaching etc. but love for money won out. He is a high-powered executive, but has been a youth sports coach, scout leader, etc. for something like forty years.

^ Yeah, I can see Stacey wanting to be successful, too. She has a good heart, though, and I can see her not wanting to follow in her father's footsteps when it comes to being a workaholic. Whatever high-powered job she ends up with, I DO think she'll balance it out with the rest of her life a bit better than Mr. McGill did.

I also picture her married to a slightly older guy with money.

I was re-reading Stacey's Choice today and thinking the very same thing about her having a good heart. Despite her imperfections, she is my favourite sitter.

^ I appreciate her more now than I did when I was a kid. It would have been so easy for them to go the route of making the pretty blond fashionable one shallow and airheaded, too, but they didn't. Stacey actually has some substance!

^ I totally agree. I liked her as a kid but appreciate her - for some reason - more as an adult. Lately I've been watching The Facts of Life (and I'm planning on watching the entire season, I'm enjoying it) and Stacey kind of reminds me of Blair. I actually like Blair. Even though she's shallow, like Stacey, she's kind-hearted and has good intentions - not to mention beautiful hair!

I always liked her, even if she was being "mean", I could empathize with her frustrations often though it got a little harder in later books. I felt it was unlike her to not want to be a mathlete at first since she was so passionate about it and strong willed in the beginning. But I guess she used to focus on wanting to be popular before that's why.

^ I totally got Stacey in her wanting to be popular phase, I was the same all through high school, and totally left my nerdy self behind, only to be found in adult hood! And I think she was one of the less mean sitters also.

Yep, I was like that in middle school/early high school and was starting to accept it again by the time high school ended and wanted to just tell the world to screw it!

I see her becoming either an astronomer, scientist, doctor or engineer.
The tired old stereotype of her being a fashion model or "party girl" is too lame and too dull.
And the "popularity" phase for "popular" kids only lasts so long.
She always seemed to be just about the brightest of the BSC and was always great at math and science.

I saw in an interview that Ann saw Stacey as part of the fashion industry. I could see her working in the finance department or something. Maybe wishing she could design but doesn’t have the right background.

Definitely something with business or marketing. Like, she'd go to Stern at NYU and then later get her MBA. And, of course, live in NYC.

I see Stacey as an engineer living in a city in Vermont in adulthood.
But she would visit NYC often, especially to visit Mary Anne and Mona and for BSC reunions in the city.

Mona? There’s nothing about Stacey that indicates she’d rather live anywhere but a major city like NYC.

Stacey living anywhere then NYC really surprises, she even says she’s a more urban girl in the later books.
