In Dawn's Family Feud the Shafer/Spier family wasn't speaking until they saw their grumpy family portrait and burst into hysterical laughter. In BSC in the USA the Shafer/Spier/Jack Shafer family was having a very uncomfortable breakfast until something happened to make them once again laugh hysterically. (Maybe this is a Shafer/Spier thing...)
I hate these moments, lol. Are there any other books where group fights are magically cured by a big fit of laughter?

I'm pretty sure there's a tense moment in Dawn's Wicked Stepsister when a call to sit for Jenny comes in and Mary Anne tells Dawn she can have it in a fake sweet way. Dawn's like waiiiit and Mary Anne tries to deny that she's passing Jenny off and Dawn calls her a liar. Finally Mary Anne admits that's what she's doing and everyone cracks up. It must be a Schafer/Spier thing

don't all the girls laugh at the end of MA saves the day? i think they finally admitted they don't even remember why they started fighting. it even said claudia laughed so hard she rolled off the bed. so i guess it isn't just a schafer/spier thing, but they definitely perfected it :]

Didn't Kristy and Shannon become friends because they both started laughing at Kristy's pizza joke (I forget what it was at the moment)?

In Baby-sitters' Haunted House, everyone laughs after they discover Lionel Menders playing ghost in the hallway.

just read Karen's Mermaid. Margo and Karen were fighting, and Margo says they were having a "whisper fight" and they both started giggling and that was the end of that...

Ah, hysterical laughter. Mending friendships since the 1980s.

It's like Murder, She Wrote. Almost every episode ended this way. Jessica et al. would be discussing the MURDER they had just solved very recently, and then they'd suddenly start laughing at pretty much nothing and keep laughing for a very long time. Life has returned to normal in Cabot Cove! Until next week!
That was always very disconcerting.

Didn't they all start laughing in Jessi Ramsey, Pet-Sitter after they realized they all voted each other back into their own offices? Or was it just Kristy who burst out laughing as she read the votes?

I *think* (not 100% sure), she bursts out laughing as she reads them out, then explains and the others join in laughing.

The very first one I thought of back when this was posted was Happy Holidays, Jessi, but then I wasn't sure I was remembering it correctly, and I was too lazy to check. I was skimming through it today, though, and yep, it's another one where hysterical laughter solved everything. Hysterical laughter that was triggered by Squirt burping, no less.

I found another one. (You can tell when I've read a book by the random threads I drag up. ) In Kristy and the Kidnapper, Kristy and Abby were tense/bickering the whole trip because they were on different debate teams. They awkwardly tried to apologize to each other as they were packing to go home and started arguing again. When they realized what they were doing they, you guessed it, laughed so hard it made Kristy's stomach hurt and Abby unable to talk. I need more of these moments in my life! Not the fights, just the hysterical laughter...

In Kristy & The Snobs, Kristy's joke was that if she throw the pizza on Astrie she would become a pepperoni dog and both Shannon and Kristy started laughing and became friends.
